My Target Scores

  1. Profile: Undergraduate University: UC Santa Barbara Undergraduate Major: Economics Undergraduate GPA: 3.86 GRE: 166 Q/161 V/4 AWA *Should I retake the GRE? What are the consequences if I don’t score 167 + on the quantitative reasoning section?* Econ Courses Microeconomic Theory (A), Intermediate Microeconomic Theory (-A), Advanced Microeconomic Theory (B+), Econometrics (A), Advanced Econometrics (A), Game Theory (A), Senior Thesis (A) Math Course Multivariable Calculus (A), Linear Algebra (A), Advanced Linear Algebra (A), Differential Equations (A), Methods of Analysis (A+), and Real Analysis (A) Statistics, Computer Science, and Data Science Courses Introduction to Computer Science (A), Probability Theory (A-), and Introduction to Data Science (A) Research Experience I’ve spent the last two years working as a research assistant at the Federal Reserve. I currently work as the Corporate Bonds and Credit Quality RA in the Capital Markets section. I regularly prepare charts and answer ad hoc questions for economists and board members. I also dedicate time towards economist’s independent research; I’m currently working on two papers concerning monetary policy. Before joining the Board, I wrote a senior thesis and did some cleaning/entry work for a professor at UCSB. Letters of Recommendation Two Board economists and one economist from UCSB; I have worked with each of them all for at least a year. Teaching Experience I recently revamped the R and Linux training in Capital Markets for incoming RAs. I also volunteer for a data science course taught at Howard University in collaboration with the Federal Reserve. Research Interests I’m broadly interested in applied economic research. Although I enjoy my work surrounding empirical corporate finance, I also have an interest in household finance. Applications Top 25 economics Ph.D. programs and a handful of finance Ph.D. programs. *Should I consider applying to more finance programs given my research interests and the state of my profile?* My questions are highlighted in red. All other comments and suggestions welcome. Thank you for reviewing my profile :)
  2. Hello everyone, My situation is a little bit different from other common applicants: My Profile: Bachler's GPA: 3.0, Major: Computer Science Master's GPA: 3.6, Major: Computer Science Current PhD's GPA: 3.8, Major: Computer Science, Area: Theory (mainly Combinatorics) Current PhD program (around 50-70 in the U.S., also has a 50-ish Eco PhD Program) GRE: Q-170 Econ course: I'm going to take PhD level micro-econ theory next semester and looking forward to getting an A. Math course: calculus/linear algebra from my undergrad (but have a good knowledge of math tools, I did my phd research mainly on stochastic optimization problems) Research Experience: 3 papers in theoretical computer science, 2 papers in application area (data mining). Research Interests: micro-econ theory: matching, allocation and mechanism design Applying to: not sure yet, but say T30-100 world wide. e.g. U Zurich, Bonn, Aalto, U Geneva, etc. Teaching experience: 1 course in CS, 1 TA in CS Recommendation letters: 2-3 from CS/Math (strong, coauthors and advisor), 1 from Econ (not sure yet) Concerns: I started to get interested in micro-econ theory during my current study, and I'm planning to continue my study on econ problems after obtaining my PhD in CS. I have read several papers in micro-econ field and know exactly what kinds of problems that I'm interested in. My main concern is that my background in economics is weak. I have several Profs in my mind since I'm quite interested in their research, but I'm not sure if they would consider me as a strong/weak candidate. I would love to hear any comments and suggestions. Your help would be much appreciated!
  3. PROFILE:Type of Undergrad: B.S. Math, B.A. Econ with honors, T10 Undergrad GPA: 3.45 (econ: 3.93, math: 3.87). First year GPA was extremely low with several Ds/Fs. Type of Grad: N/A Grad GPA :N/A GRE: Q170, V165, AW5.5 Econ Courses: Honors Intermediate Micro (A), Honors Intermediate Macro (A), Honors Econometrics (A), Auction Theory (A), Dynamical Economic Modeling (A), Industrial Organization (A), Experimental Economics (A), Econometric & Data Science Methods (A), MA Game Theory (A), PhD Micro II (A), Honors Thesis (A). Math Courses: Honors Calc I-II (C, C-), Calc III (A), Intro to Proofs (A), Abstract Linear Algebra (A), Real Analysis I-III (accelerated/regular) (A-/A), Topology (A), Algebra I (A-), Honors Probability (A-), Measure Theory (A-), ODEs (A-), MA Mathematical Statistics (A-). LOR's: I had one strong letter from my thesis advisor when applying to a masters program, not sure about PhD programs later on. Will hopefully have 2 strong letters from RA position at a top predoc program. All are senior faculty. Research Experience: 2-year RA, Honors Thesis and 3 individual research term papers (50+ pages each). Awards: Outstanding thesis prize Research Interests: Not sure yet Applying to: Not sure yet --------------------------- I would like to get some advice for what courses to take based on my profile in the coming two years during my RA. Currently I'm trying to choose between: Functional Analysis Dynamical Systems PhD Metrics I-III PhD Micro III PhD Macro I-III Machine Learning Algorithms Measure-theoretic probability MA Big Data and Economics MA microeconometrics I'm leaning towards PhD metrics in my first year and time-permitting, functional analysis. Then, machine learning and algorithms in my second year and perhaps PhD macro. I'm also unsure which is better: An A- in a class like PhD metrics or functional analysis or an A in a class that is slightly easier, like MA metrics. I'm also unsure if it's necessary to build a profile with an obvious field of interest by taking classes that are relevant to the field. I am taking a maximum of 6 classes per year. Thanks for any suggestions, especially if they are classes I have not considered or listed.

  5. Hi everyone, I know this seems like a stupid question, since they are strong in different things (macro vs micro). However, please hear me out About me: - I am from third world country and risk-averse. If academia does not work out I would like to stay in the US and want to find a job in the industry. From what it seems, IMF (UMN outside option) has better work/ life balance and benefits than economics consulting (Caltech outside option) - I am into game theory/ network theory/ formal theory (in political science). I did my thesis in that, and did many many courses in theory.. I enjoyed the only macro course I took however. However I must admit that I hate things like contract theory, taxation, general equilibrium,.... those topics at the boundary. - I prefer Micro theory to Macro and would choose Caltech under normal circumstances. However, I would like to stay in academia. And micro theory seems to be dying. I talked to a professor at Rochester during the visiting day and he said himself the market for theory is not good and they are not hiring any theorist anytime soon. So now Caltech vs UMN pros and cons: Caltech pros: - Obviously much stronger theory group - Very strong in formal theory as well - Strong in experimental economics, which I like - More prestige - Higher stipend (however I don't know if after accounted for cost of living it is still better than UMN) Things that are neither pro nor con: - CA will offer me better lifestyle. Better food (I am Asian), more health/ fitness culture - More things to do with Los Angeles nearby - Sunny throughout the year These things are nice but can be distraction Cons: - No macro at all - Placement is so so UMN pros: - Strong in macro theory - Fantastic placement - Friendly culture - Lower stipend - Probably more TA duties Things that are neither pro or con: - Cold and snowing all the time. I am less productive in winter in general Cons: - Micro theory group is small (1 person - Rahman, Rustichini does not do theory anymore and Werner is more financial theory) - While general placement is better, placement in theory is much worse than Caltech - Less prestige and hence maybe worse for private sector. However I have seen many UMN graduates at tech companies like Amazon, where Caltech is supposed to place better. Please help me with this decision as soon as possible! It is really important. Sometimes I wish I do not get admitted to one of them so I do not have to much such decision. Thank you all so much!
  6. PROFILE: Type of Undergrad: Top 2 Canadian University Undergrad GPA: 3.88/4.0 Type of Grad: Grad GPA: GRE: waiting on results, should come soon Math Courses: Calculus (A), Multivariate Calc (A-), Linear Algebra I & II (A), Differential Equations (A+), Topics in Abstract Math (B+), Probability and Statistics (A+), Real Analysis (A+), Topology (In Progress), Nonlinear Optimization (winter semester), Group theory (Winter Semester) Econ Courses: Intro Micro and Macro (A-,A), Intermediate Micro and Macro (A,A-), Game Theory (A-), Information Economics (A+), Market Design (B+), Econometrics (A+), Behavioral Econ (A), Causal Inference (A), Advanced Macro (A), Financial Econ (In Progress), PhD Micro I (In Progress), IO (winter), International Trade (winter) Other Courses: Letters of Recommendation: 1.Prof who taught me Game theory, Information econ, and PhD Micro 2.AP who I RA'ed for, for a year 3. One of my letter writers told me he's not sure if his letter would be good enough for top 10, how bad of a sign is this? Do I have a chance at top 15?

  8. Hi! I am looking for profile evaluation and some advices on LORs. Thank you so much! Type of Undergrad: B.S. (Honors) Mathematics and Economics from the top 15 in US Undergrad GPA: 4.0 (My school doesn't have A+) Type of Grad : N/A Grad GPA: N/A GRE: Q170 ,V157, AWA4.0 Math Courses Undergrad: Linear Algebra (A), Calculus I-III (A), Analysis I-II (A), Abstract Algebra I-II (A), Logic (A), Linear Optimization (A), Topology (A), Complex Analysis (A) Math Courses Grad: Differentiable Manifolds (A), ODE (A), Two semesters of Ph.D. analysis sequence (both A), Measure-theoretic probability (A), Stochastic analysis (IP), Modern discrete probability (IP) Econ Courses Undergrad: Intro to micro and macro (A), Intermediate micro (A), Intermediate macro (A), Econometrics (A), Game Theory (A), IO (A), Growth theory (A), Independent research (A), Honors thesis (IP) Econ Courses Grad : Two semesters of Ph.D. micro sequence (both A), First semester of Ph.D. macro sequence (IP), Advanced micro theory (IP) Other courses: Two programming classes in Java and Matlab Letters of Recommendation: Math Professor whom I did research with (Very strong - the best student he has ever had for 20 years) Assistant Professor from intermediate macro and growth theory classes (Strong) Well-known professor in micro sequence whom I did research with over the past summer (Strong) Well-known professor in micro sequence and advanced micro who is my thesis advisor now (Strong/Weak: Depending on my thesis) Research Experience: Two years of math research in dynamical systems with the first LOR writer (1 working paper & 1 in-progress) Math REU at U.Chicago over the past summer about optimal stopping time One semester of independent research class on matching theory Research on games in contracts with the third LOR writer over the past summer Honors thesis with the fourth LOR writer (I started it pretty lately) Teaching Experience: TA for analysis, combinatorics, and stochastic process classes Research Interests: Microeconomic theory (Game Theory, Information economics) Other information: IMO silver medalist for three years and Putnam top 50 for three years. Concerns: Lack of publication (only have working paper and work in progress) The most thing I'm concerned about is my fourth LOR writer. I feel like he does not know me much even though I got a very good score in his Ph.D. micro class and went to office hours talking about his paper for several times. So I decide to do an undergrad thesis with him to show my potential. It ends up that he does not have much time to talk with me. When I asked him about the LOR, he told me that "he is going to write only what he knows about me." I feel like this is a really bad sign if my thesis doesn't turn out to be great. I am thinking that I will not send my fourth LOR, but is it a bad signal if I do not send the LOR from my thesis advisor? I guess what I can do right now is to work hard on my thesis. What programs I should aim for? Am I competitive for top 10 or top 20 programs? Thanks for your advices in advance! P.S: Since I am not a native speaker, sorry for my bad english.
  9. I am not looking for a full profile evaluation at this point. I am currently working on my MA in econ but I wanted to get a sense of how admissions would view my previous course record. Profile Type of Undergrad: Bachelors in Finance (Pretty unknown university for finance and econ) Undergrad GPA: 3.63 Type of Grad: MA Econ in progress (finish spring 2021) Grad GPA: 3.83 Math Courses(list the grades for each course): I will list the math courses in years. I was not a very good student early on but I wonder how admissions would view this. For the first two years, it is 3 different attempts. 1st yr: Precalc (Withdraw/Fail/B). 2nd yr: Applied Calc (Withdraw/Fail/A). 3rd yr: Calc I and Calc II (A-/B) Linear Algebra (B) 4th yr: Calc III (A-) Analysis I (A) 5th yr (MA program): A- in Grad Probability (Measure & Probability). B+ in Measure Theory. Econ Courses Undergrad(list the grades for each course): All A's for intro/intermediate micro, intro/intermediate macro, game theory, econometrics, IO expect B+ in advanced micro. Econ Courses Msc(list the grades for each course): All A's in Micro and macro, econometrics I and II. In progress: microeconometrics, time series, and game theory. I can post any other relevant detail needed to make a judgement but i'm primarily wondering about courses right now. My undergrad GPA is only as high as it is because the withdraws and fails were replaced by B/A's. There are some poor grades such as C's/B's in courses like music, art, and even in a finance class. But I was hoping an upwards trajectory in all my courses (especially math) would offset it a bit. I plan to take one or more more math courses next semester as well. I understand that top programs don't need to risk it on a student such as myself but what about the case about other good programs?
  10. How to Solve: LCM, GCD and Properties of LCM and GCD Hi All, I have recently uploaded a Video on YouTube to discuss LCM and GCD in detail. Following is covered in the video: What is LCM and how to find LCM of 2 or more numbers using three methods. What is GCD and how to find GCD of 2 or more numbers using three methods. • Listing Out Multiples • Common Division Method • Prime Factorization Method How to find LCM and GCD of Exponents and Fractions. Properties of LCM and GCD Prop 1: LCM of 0 and any number does not exist • LCM ( 0 , a ) = Does not exist Prop 2: GCD of 0 and any number is equal to the number itself. (Because all whole numbers are factors of 0. So, a will be also be a factor of 0.) • GCD ( 0 , a ) = a Prop 3: LCM of 1 and any number is equal to the number itself • LCM ( 1 , a ) = a Prop 4: GCD of 1 and any number is equal to 1 • GCD ( 1 , a ) = 1 Prop 5: Product of two numbers = Product of their LCM and GCD • a*b = LCM(a,b) * GCD(a,b) Prop 6: LCM of two numbers is always a multiple of their GCD • LCM(a,b) = GCD(a,b) * k [where k is an integer] Prop 7: LCM of two numbers always lies between the larger of the two numbers and the product of those two numbers • Larger (a,b) Prop 8: GCD of two numbers is always smaller than or equal to the smaller of those two numbers • GCD (a,b) Prop 9: LCM of two numbers is equal to the larger of the two numbers when one number is multiple of other • LCM(a,b) = Larger(a,b) => either a is a multiple of b or b is a multiple of a Prop 10: LCM of two numbers is equal to the product of those two numbers when the numbers are co-prime • LCM(a,b) = a*b => a and b are co-prime numbers Co-prime numbers are numbers which have only one factor in common (i.e. 1) Prop 11: GCD of two numbers is equal to the smaller of the two numbers when one number is multiple of other • GCD(a,b) = Smaller(a,b) => either a is a multiple of b or b is a multiple of a Prop 12: GCD of two numbers is 1 when the numbers are co-prime • GCD(a,b)=1 => a and b are co-prime numbers Prop 13: All numbers can be written as a multiple of their GCD • a and b can be written as a multiple of their GCD • a = GCD(a,b) * k [where k is an integer] • b = GCD(a,b) * t [where t is an integer] Prop 14: All multiples of LCM are divisible by the numbers whose LCM we have calculated • Multiples of LCM(a,b) will be divisible by both a and b Prop 15: a + b and a -b will always be divisible by GCD(a,b) • a+bGCD(a,b)=k[where k is an integer] • a−bGCD(a,b)=t [where t is an integer] Sample Word Problems: Prob 1: Joe has 12 A-grade projects and Chris has 18 B-grade projects. They have to divide up the projects into small teams with equal number of projects in each team; each team can have either A-grade project or B-grade project only. If there is no remainder, find the largest possible number of projects in each team. Prob 2: Joe and Chris were each given a piece of wood of equal length. Joe cuts his wood piece into equal lengths of 12 cm, while Chris cuts his wood piece into equal lengths of 18 cm. If there was no remainder in both cases, find the shortest possible length of wood given to them. Prob 3: Two steel pieces of length 340 cm and 408 cm are to be cut into pieces of all the same length without remainder. Find the greatest possible length of the pieces. Solutions: Prob 1: GCD (12,18) =6 Prob 2: LCM(12,18) = 36 Prob 3: GCD(340,408) = 68 Hope it helps!
  11. Hi, I am a second-year master's student outside the US. I am planning to apply for PhD accounting programs this winter. From my country, it is rare to pursue PhD in the US, so I would appreciate the advice. (I posted almost same content a few days ago, but I noticed there was a typo in title and it didn't make sense. So, I re-post it with a few modifications. Sorry for messing the forum.) University: #1 top school in my country. Test Scores: I have not taken GMAT (I know it's behind desirable schedule), but my projection is 700-720 with Q50 or Q51. TOEFL score is 107 (R30, L30, S23, W24). I thin I can bump up the speaking & wring score to around 26. Undegrad GPA: B.A. in Economics, 3.8/4.0Graduate GPA: M.A. in Business 4.0/4.0 Research Experience: In my graduation thesis (undergrad), I wrote a research paper in archival accounting and got an award for it. I surveyed 100+ papers published in top journals, built original hypotheses, and found consistent results with my hypothesis. However, it was written not in English. I am writing a master thesis, in which I exploit a unique natural experiment to answer a question related to earnings quality. I am writing this in English, but I am not sure if I can finish it before application (so that I can send it as a writing sample.) Teaching Experience: None. Is this bad? Work Experience: I went master's program directly from undergrad, so I don't have any full-time work experience. However, I passed CPA exam of my country (not registered yet) and did an internship job at Big-four. Relevant classes: - Economics: I have taken first-year PhD level microeconomics (text was MWG) and econometrics (text was Greene). Moreover, I have taken second-year PhD course in econometrics (advance asymptotic theory etc.). I got As in these classes. - Math: I have taken (i) abstract linear algebra, (ii) optimization, (iii) probability and measure theory, (iv) functional analysis, (v) real analysis. I got As in these classes. - Finance: I have taken graduate-level financial economics class and derivatives class (stochastic calculus) Research Interest: Disclosure, Conservatism, Earnings quality, Earnings management. Although I have never done research in theory since there is no faculty who do theory in my univ., I also want to do research in theory (EM and disclosure). Letters of recommendation: (i) Accounting professor. My adviser in undergrad and master. She got PhD in my country and never published in top journals, but has published many papers in the second tier. She will strongly recommend me, but I am not sure if professors in the US take seriously at her words since she got PhD outside the US and have not published in top journals. (ii) (iii) Econ professors. These professors got PhD in US and have sent many students to top Econ PhD programs. I hope they will write that I have a solid econ background with the level that I can pass course-works of top Econ PhD programs. But, they don't know much about my research ability. Dream Schools: Stanford, MIT, Booth, Duke, Michigan, Penn, NYU, Columbia, Northwestern, Toronto, CMU, Ohio, Rice, Iowa, Florida, Illinois, PennState Question: - Am I aiming too high ranked school? I have read through many threads but I get the feeling that I can get into T50 schools. But, I am not sure I am good enough to get into T20 or T10. How do you think about my profile? Again since it is rare to apply for the U.S. PhD program from my country, any comment would be highly appreciated. - Is there any good second-tier school that facilitates both theory and archival? I got the impression that T10 schools offer training in both theory and archival, but some of the second-tier school don't have theory faculty. Thanks in advance.

  13. I am currently studying philosophy as an undergraduate at a T10 department (for economics). However, I have taken the following courses: (MATH): Calculus 1-3, Linear Algebra, Honors Analysis, ODE, Probability Theory, Mathematical Statistics, and Topology (ECON): Micro/Macro theory, Introduction to Econometrics, Advanced Econometrics Is this a strong enough profile for PhD admissions? Also, a main concern of mine is that I don't have any research experience and, given my "soft" major, I won't be able to get any RAships. Thank you!
  14. Currently a rising junior at a T-10 public US university and would like an honest evaluation of my chances at PhD programs in Economics Major: Economics and Statistics GPA: 3.8 Math: Linear Algebra (A), Integral Calculus (A), Regression Analysis (A-), ANOVA(A), Statistical Data Science (A), Vector Calculus (B-), Calc III (B), Probability Theory In Progress Economics: Macro Theory (A), Micro Theory (A+), Intro Micro (A), Intro Macro (A), Econometrics (A+) Research: RA at lab focused on education economics (working heavily in R) Internship: Did a data science focused internship my freshman year summer where I implemented an algorithm from a research paper (focused on information retrieval), RA at city's economic council, interned at an analytics startup for 3-months too Plan on taking real analysis I and II, full mathematical statistics sequence, discrete math, time series analysis, math for economist, Applied Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and Bayesian Statistical Inference and a few graduate courses before finishing mu ugrad. Obviously the biggest weaknesses are the Bs in the intro calculus classes. They were during my freshman year and when I was working 20+ hours a week simultaneously out of financial need. No excuses, but I hope receiving As in the other math classes and the ones I take in the future will help make up for it. Pretty much looking for guidance at this point on my chances. What programs do I realistically have a shot at? Should I be focused on anything in particular these next two years to be more competitive? I will be writing a senior thesis (hopefully) and I'm looking to land a position at the Fed for next summer. Are there any other math classes to focus on? In the interest of space and time I did not include much about my underlying passion for the discipline and what areas I'm interested in but I can definitely elaborate.
  15. Type of Undergrad: Top 30 US, B.S. Mathematical Economics Undergrad GPA: 3.96 GRE: Not taken yet, not concerned US student Math courses: Real Analysis I (A), Ordinary Differential Equations (A), Calculus series (A), Linear Algebra (A), Statistical modeling (A); plan to take optimization theory, intro to math modeling, computer science, and probability before graduating Econ courses: Econometric theory (A), applied econometrics (A-), quantitative asset pricing (A-), monetary theory (A), international finance (A) Letters of recommendation: 1. Professor who I have RA'd for 2 years now, coauthor on 3 papers published together 2. Professor for real analysis, strong relationship, he has an economics background and we connected well 3. Department chair, 2 courses and independent study Research Experience: Published 3 articles in history of thought journals as coauthor with recommender #1, 2 were peer reviewed. Plan to write a senior thesis. Interning at Fed virtually this summer in macro. Concerns: Undergrad school ranking, research is published but qualitative (journal of economic education), not enough math background Questions: Do I go straight to PhD or try for Fed RAship/predoc? What schools are reach/target/safety?
  16. Hello folks, I am an ug in europe planning to apply for phd in the next 2 years. I take 5 classes in this semester. 3 of them are intermediate macroeconomic theory 1 (eric sims), mathematics for economists (simon blume) and Linear algebra and differential equations. I am pretty sure that I will ace all of these courses but my other 2 courses are microeconomic theory 1 and statistics 1 and I will probably pass these courses with b-/b because of high level course work and I couldn't focus on them because I need to take care of my grandparents. If I had time I would probably get an A from those courses too. I can use pass/fail option at the end of the semester for these 2 courses and it won't affect my GPA. However, I don't think this would be good in my transcript. What should I do? My current gpa is 3.80 and I am in my second year. Moreover, I am pretty sure I can take A's in microeconomic theory 2 and statistics 2 in the next year but corona ruined everything.

  20. Note: I have my masters program Advisor tell me that I should aim to top 25 to 50 schools while undergraduate professors say 50 to 70. What do you guys think? 22. Hi everyone, I am a long time lurker on this form and this is my first time posting. I would like to apply for a Mphil in economics at the University of Cambridge. However, I am not sure if my maths are strong enough to get into the program. I was wondering if applying is a worthwhile endeavor based on my profile and course/work history. Thanks for your interest and advice! Credentials: Econ Program: Top 50 liberal arts college in the United States GRE: Aiming for above a 168 in Quant and 160 in Verbal. College GPA: 3.9 Math Courses: Calc I-II (AP), Multivariable Calculus (A), Linear Algebra (A), Introduction to Real Analysis (A+), Evolutionary Game-Theory (Research project - In progress). Relevant Econ Courses: Macroeconomic Theory (A+), Microeconomic Theory (A), Political Economy (A-), The East Asian Growth Model (Honors Capstone Project - In Progress), Statistics (A+), Econometrics (In Progress). Relevant Work Experience: Last summer, I worked as a statistician for a Political Action Committee in the United States. Most of my responsibilities included gathering and collecting data and running simple regression models. This summer, I did a econometrics internship for the city I live in. My responsibilities included building multiple regression models (running stepwise regressions, testing for multicollinearity, etc...), data mapping using GIS software, and presenting my results to the city director. Other Experiences: I (with the recommendation of one of my professors) am trying to get a paper published. I received a revise and resubmit decision from the journal last spring and should have the paper resubmitted by the end of the summer. LORs: One professor got their PHD from the University of New Mexico One professor got their PHD from the University of Chicago (The one who suggested I submit my paper for publication). My greatest concern for getting into the program is that I did not take Differential equations. I have taught myself some Diff equ. for the independent research project I am doing on Game Theory (eg. variation of parameters, Laplace transformations, dynamic optimization) and I have used Fourier transformations before for statistical smoothing in one of my internships. Will this be enough to make up for my relative lack of mathematical coursework. I appreciate your feedback. Thanks!
  23. Choosing between measure theoretic probability and a graduate statistics class using Casella/Berger. I have some expectation of doing theory in the future, but I'm not all in. Which should I take? What are the important considerations?
