  1. According to USNews, it's #23 in the US. I personally think their placements look better than other those of other schools in that rank around 20-25. It would be very conservative to call it a top 25 IMO.
  2. I was going to respond that I thought the April 15th deadline extended to midnight, but I see what you're saying. I assume that a lot of people keep their offers in hand until very late on the 15th, and that the waitlists start clearing on the 16th. Can anyone confirm?
  3. Has anyone heard from CUNY this week? I interviewed last week. They said they wanted to send out decisions "early" the first week of April. I'm not seeing anything from this week on the Grad Cafe.
  4. Has anyone heard from CUNY? I see one person on the Grad Cafe was invited for an interview on March 3rd. There's nothing else from this year.
  5. Thanks. I knew the waitlist wasn't as simple as one in-on out, but I actually didn't know that schools sent our more acceptances than they had places. I guess they know what they're doing.
  6. I have a question about how schools work through waitlists. Do they send out offers as spots become available, or do they maybe wait a couple of weeks once people start declining their offers? I got a waitlist last Monday (3/15), and since then, 2 people on Grad Cafe have posted that they've declined the school's offer. I'm guessing that I should plan on waiting another week or two, even if I was one of the first two people in the queue.
  7. Tutonic is right. UC3M's PhD is very good. It doesn't have the placement record of BGSE's PhD program though, partly because it's less international. Am I understanding correctly from your post that UC3M rejected you? Or did they accept you? If they accepted you, I would not expect to do well with a subpar math background. UC3M's PhD program is very, very tough. They're known to fail people. If I'm reading correctly on their website, they accept 20 people into the master's in economic analysis each year, and 10 people into the research phase of the PhD each year. If you don't think you'll be in the upper 50% of students, you should probably decline the offer.
  8. LMAO dude. Take the top 10 (maybe top 5?) offer and run!
  9. I think we had the same safety school. With the way thinks are looking, it might have been optimistic of me to call that a safety school LOL. I really hope to hear back from them soon. Still nothing, and no other news on Grad Cafe.
  10. The only way to avoid this is to not tell people what you're going through. Avoid the subject unless talking to other people who have applied/are applying.
  11. Congrats! Can I ask when you got your acceptance? I've been going back and forth with UIC over some of my required documents for almost two weeks. I'm a little nervous that even if I get things straightened out, it will be too late.
  12. Those posts are just for masters in econ. For the first time this year, BGSE's PhD track is completely separate from the masters. I spoke to someone with BGSE today who said that they usually hope to have PhD decisions out by February 12th, but due to a high number of applicants this year are aiming for the end of the month...
