  1. Hi, I have a friend who was in similar situation. I would say, it doesn't hurt to try. (unless you're really strapped on cash). My friend didn't get accepted though.. He ended up going to other mba that's not in top 100.
  2. Hi Amit, So did you finally decide to go to CMU? I'm taking a different path from traditional MBA. I plan to attend Acton MBA in Entrepreneurship. (http://www.actonmba.org). Acton is a new school (2 years old) founded by Mr. Jeff Sandefer (I think he was ranked as one of the best Entrepreneur prof in businessweek). He's the founder of the old Entrepreneurship program in UT Austin. All the teachers in the school are entrepreneurs who own their own businesses.. They all got MBA from harvard, chicago, babson, or UT. The faculty to students ratio is lowest in the country. Here's the direct link to the Teacher list. You can read their bio by clicking on the pics. http://actonmba.org/people_teachers_master.php I took GMAT once and got 650... anybody who wants to be an entrepreneur.. feel free to join me :D. I think this year there are going to be 25 students and 14 Teachers.
  3. Don't assume people who go to top rank schools are all super smart or speak perfect English. I watched the documentary on rich kids a couple months ago. This one guy went to Brown, skip every class, flunk all his tests and still get all As because he belongs to one of America's most powerful family. P.S. Bush's not dumb. He can influence enough people to become the president.. that's not easy.
  4. If I were you I would go for Yaahhhhle since its Ivy. lol. good luck :)
  5. hi, I didn't have much time to prepare either because I'm also studying full time. I would say, do powerprep first like overunder said. next would be going after [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] and I think you should look at kaplan 800 as well. let me know how you do and good luck.
  6. he can be like the Ford wise guys :-D
  7. Hi guys, I've been here for a bit now and I feel this site has helped me quite a lot. There are many interesting people here and I've recieved many valuable advices. Since we're all going to MBA I think it would be nice to keep in touch. Who knows maybe we will end up working together in the future. my e-mail is chaichat@gmail.com please feel free to contact me about anything. chaichat
  8. I'm sure they have all the other students lined up to take your place. Just go, I'll take your spot :2cents:
  9. hey man, I only got 650 on gmat, do you think i have a chance? can you tell me about your admission process?
  10. 1) is your friend cute? 2) you should tell her to keep money in her socks. 3) if she's hot, feel free to hook me up.
  11. congrat :) You did very well. Good luck on the applications.
  12. Hey man, your Quant is very good! At least now you only have to worry about verbal :)
  13. what's your Q and V? I think you might want to work on one skill at a time and see if your score improves on the practice tests.
  14. update: 650 (84%) 44 Q (73%) 35 V (77%) AWA = 4.0 (36%) waaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!:crazy::o:eek: Anyway, I'm trying to apply to Acton MBAE, Pepperdine, and Claremont graduate (Drucker). -_-'.. I'm also thinking about Babson, but I don't want any more snow. Do you know any schools where there are many hot chics, nice weather, and many shops? Let me know if u know any. Thanks :D
  15. I think you should take powerprep 1 and see how you do.
  16. I would go with Babson or BU, just because the environment is better. I'm applying to Babson too btw. :)

    help needed!

hi, don't worry about it just keep practicing and try PP2. I got 540 on PP1 first try too. here are my test scores in order kaplan online cat:660 pp1:540 pp2:630 (a week later, no practice) study [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip]. I studied how to solve problems. I have bad memory so i can't memorize all the problems. pp1:660 (again) practice some Putting before taking the test real test 650 I guess if you want to get 700+ u'll have to study much harder. I didn't have much time so I only did about 150 problems from [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip]. I read spidey's note a bit, but can't memorize everything. I also read some comments in Kaplan 800 a bit.
  20. :DHi, I just finished my first GMAT today. its 650 44 quant 73% 35 verbal 77% 650 84% I got to say, I'm very glad. I was thinking that I was going to get less than 600, because people tend to do much worse on real test than on PP. I was trying to apply to schools that has 610 GMAT average so I think 650 is enough for now..However, I might try to apply to more schools in higher ranks. I don't think I'll be taking a 2nd gmat unless I got rejected from schools this time. for the record, I got the following scores on the practice tests Kaplan online CAT 660 PP1 540 PP2 630 PP1 660 :eek:About the test: The maths questions in the real test is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy harder than the in the [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip]. I was getting all the questions from the hard bin, and eventually have to start guessing, because they were very time consuming. The verbal is also harder than [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip]. They put in harder vocabuary into the real test. I didn't have much time to study for it, because I was also taking classes at the same time and I had less than a month to prepare. I worked on [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip], but I didn't finish it. I also read some verbal techniques from kaplan 800, but didn't do any problems. :crazy:My backgrounds: English is not my first language, but I have read a lot of technical documents for school and work. :oWhat I would like to do differently if I have to go through it again: study Kaplan 800 throughly. do the rest of [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] problems. I think I would like to learn the proper ways to solve problems instead of just doing as many questions as possible and try to memorize them.
  21. hey congrat sybersport. You made it to the high end of your PP score so that's great :) Anyway, I'm also shooting to get around 610... My best scores in practice never exceeded 660... I'll take my test today, so wish me good luck too :)
  22. wow, u'r scores are similar to mine.. I'm also taking the test on march 9th. I have been practicing the [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip], but I just couldn't get myself to finish all the questions in the book. I've also read some advices from kaplan 800... I'll take the kaplan CAT tomorrow to see if I improve. I know how to do all maths problems, but a lot of time I make stupid mistakes.
  23. btw, start early. I just started working on [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] and damn!!! It has too many problems. I'm gonna die :(
