  1. Hey deepakz, No Probs with your date.. it is perfect... Just practice more computer based tests like Cambridge review. Practice GMAT problem solving questions from the GMAT forum.... and you could also buy Quant Aptitude by RS Aggarwal to hone your mathematical skills. Best of luck Saraj
  2. Ra_prasadh, You can take the GRE again only once a calender month, so you would have to give it in oct only.... Regd preparation, I would suggest to do GMAT maths as your maths is quite Low... You can download the OG questions from this site or from scoretop. Apart from that browse the GMAT problem solving section.. They seem to have great questions.. Take as many CBT's as possible. Try the cambridge review CD, it has good maths questions..you could also try Quant Aptitude by RS aggarwal. Hope it helps Saraj
  3. Hi samy, Great score.... keep up the good work..... Best of luck for your apping process....
  4. See mohit, From my personal experience, I have known that GRE is 99% a matter of LUCK and 1% hardwork (I might be exaggerating here... but LUCK DOES PLAY A MAJOR ROLE)... I had also worked HARD on my first attempt, but screwed up eventually.... However I immediately took the retake date as soon as I came back from the test center.... I got a decent score (NOT A VERY GOOD ONE)... However there are several people I know who have a really good score in the first attempt without working that hard... I really empathize with you.... You could see asphalt's thread when she couldn't do well in her first attempt... I agree with you 100% that maths is becoming tough... but its a matter of luck... my second time maths was fairly easy... Take your time and weigh your options... you will feel better... Remember its your call... we are here to just give you advice... Hope it helps Cheer up[clap] Saraj
  5. I dont think taking GRE recently or late is the deciding factor... Infact I also faced the same problem first time I got 1320(V590,Q730) and second time, which was three weeks later,I got 1480(V680,Q800), I mailed my query to many people including grad coordinators of univs and they said that since the lift in the score is good, most consider the latest one... Some univ like purdue WL might take average.....
  6. hey dsaqwert, Were you satisfied with your score??? personally I was expecting something around 290-300. However consulting from various sources I found that we need to clear the threshold of 250+. I hope that if I get 5, I can make it to 275... I just hope that PSU doesn't have any special criteria for the TOEFL scores. Saraj
  7. Gave my TOEFL today... was expecting more..... However here is the break up... Listening: 30 Structure: 13-29 RC's: 26  (I had double checked all questions...dont know where I went wrong...Though the level was a bit higher than Powerprep) Over all: 230-283 My essay topic was: Some people like spending time with a few friends while others like spending time with large number of friends.Discuss the advantages of each. Which one would you prefer. I wrote about 5 paras of medium size and mentioned various points. I think I might get a 5. I hope its a decent score.... what do you say...kinda depressed with it....
  8. Please evaluate this one too.... By the way Bruno and He hels.... where are thou??:hmm: Some people pay money for the things they want or need. Other people trade products or goods for what they need. Compare the advantages of these two ways of obtaining things. Which way do you prefer? Explain why. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It is a widely accepted phenomenon that we need sacrifice something in order to achieve something. This sacrifice may however be of two different kinds. Some people need to pay money in return for the things they want, while the other trade products for the things they need. I would prefer giving money in return for the desirable things. There are myriads of advantages of offering money in return for the products required. The threshold advantage is that money is a commodity that is universally acceptable and one can pay the exact amount for the item for which the procured goods are worth. On the other hand if a person trades another product in return for the goods needed, there is a possibility that the dealing may not be fair, or in other words, one good might be more expensive than the other good. Another advantage offered by money over the "barter" system is that money does not get spoilt over time. However organic goods like fruits & vegetable may deteriorate with time and its reciever might incur a loss if such goods are not used immediately. When trading large quantities of goods, there might be chances that some traders may be gulled by the sly traders as some of the large concealed quantities may contain the goods to be mixed with cheaper alternatives, which may not be perceptible from the outside, during the dealing. However, a disadvantage of the money system is that when we pay money in return for the goods needed, the reciever cannot make use of the money directly and needs to again pay the money to someone else in return for the goods which he/she desires and thus, this cycle continues. Instead, if we procure goods by giving away goods, both of such commondities can be consumed directly. To sum up, I find the advantages of obtaining things by giving money to far outweigh the advantages of trading goods in return for desirable goods. As a result I would definitely prefer the former mode of obtaining goods more than the latter.

    plz. rate my essay

Hey dipalsoni, Its a good essay but I think you should add 1-2 more lines in your first and , second last and last para as they look quite small. And one more thing: hadn't eklayva developed the skills on his own, keeping Dronacharya as an idol???...It was only when he had mastered the art by practicing, did he approach him...(Thats what i know) Ziyod has given a good evaluation of your essay. I think you would get 4.5-5.
  10. Please rate this one and give me some suggestions...... Thanks.... Saraj Think of the most interesting class you have ever taken. Why did you enjoy this class so much? Use specific reasons and details to explain your answer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Having been extremely fascinated by the myriads of manufacturing process prevalent in today's world, I eagerly awaited the advent of the "Manufacturing Processes" subject. Eventually the wait was over and I finally got the opportunity to attend this class in my fifth semester, which was taught by Professor Tiwari. I had heard that Professor Tiwari had the exceptional talent of bringing life to all the subjects which he taught, especially "Manufacturing Processes". Despite his old age and gaunt appearance, he would put in all his efforts and would illustrate every aspect of the subject with examples. However, he was a martinet and would become livid with anger when any of his students breached the protocols that he had fabricated. I was always curious to know how the intricate components were manufactured and how they achieved almost harmonious shapes each time. Proffesor Tiwari had eventually cleared both these doubts during the course of his teaching. He also explained that the machines called the Computer Numeric Machines or CNC have come in vogue and that these machines entail minimum human interference. When these machines are used along with robots and Automated Guided Vehicles or AGV's, we attain a perfectly human free manufacturing environment. After Dr. Tiwari had given us the detailed overview of this new manufacturing environment, he started asking us a brief questions to asses what we had learned so far under his tutelage. However, when he wasn't satisfied with our responses, he said he would take us to the Flexible Manufacturing Lab in order to give us a live demonstration. This live demostration was indeed an eye opener for all of the students as it enabled us to easily fathom all the facts which he taught in class. I had personally enjoyed every bit of this practical experience. To sum up, I was really fortunate to learn my favorite subject under the tutelage of Dr. Tiwari. His eloquence coupled with his personal experience made all his lectures impossible to forget, even in the long run. His lectures definitely increased my interest in this field and I eagerly hope to learn more subjects related to Manufacturing from him in the future.

Ashiabano, I had edited your essay completely and it took me 40 mins to do so...However, in the end, my comp got hanged and I had to "End task" it. (Darn!!!.......). I am soooooo sorry...... A brief comment: your essay has many(I mean MANY....) spelling mistakes which could eventually pull your score down.... You have also put it a lot of redundant information.... One more tip... avoid using "It would help the inhabitants of my town" instead use "It would help my community/society"... Keep practicing you would eventually get a hang of it... I would rate you at max 4.0 (Sorry.... really bites :-) ) Saraj
