My Target Scores

  1. Hey guys, I took this online course in GRE Verbal section for self-study practices on my own pace. I have to say that, I am really enjoying this course, there are a lot of practice tests which can increase your chances in scoring well. I recommend you to take this course if you are looking for any self-study materials. https://goo.gl/i8YEic
  2. Hi all. I'm new to the site and also new to applying for MBA. I'm applying to UCLA executive MBA program. I have two months to take the test. Can anyone recommend a good online prep course? Magoosh? Princeton? Kaplan, Manhattan Prep? I'm leaning towards Magoosh combined with hiring a local tutor. Are the course practice questions most like the actual test? I appreciate any feedback here. Thanks!
  3. Could anyone point me in the direction of the best online prep for the GRE. I am aware that Manhattan Prep seems to be the best of the best and I will mainly be using their materials (Strategy guides/5lb Book/Online Exams) as well as ETS. However, I need a program with a large volume of questions in order to practice pacing and endurance. Right now, I'm torn between the following options: 1. Barron's - offers 3,000+ practice questions and 4 exams for $69, 2. Kaplan - offers 2,500 practice questions for $200 Price is not a factor but value is! I am not interested in video lessons/explanations, just practice. I've been perusing the forums and I'm seeing a number of conflicting opinions on which of the two offers questions that are most like the actual GRE. Which of these quiz banks offers the most useful and realistic types of questions? Additional Info: I have a little over 3 months to prepare I have taken two full Kaplan practice tests and scored V: 154, Q:146 and V:157, Q:153 without any prep My goal scores are V: 165 and Q: 157.

    MLIC Test Prep.

I am writing this as a warning to people searching for test prep materials. My experience with MLIC Turboprep is one that should not be repeated. After paying $1400 and receiving confirmation that I had a place in the upcoming weekend class, I received a series of unorganized and incomprehensible pdf files with impertinent information and exercises. Then, I received an e-mail saying that I was going to be moved out of the class I signed up for and placed into another one. After explaining to them that this was not possible (I was going to be out of town), they said it was out of their hands and there was nothing they or I could do. Reasonably, I was not happy. They said they would not offer a refund, and therefore I went to my credit card company to appeal the charges. After a long back-and-forth, I did not receive the services promised and was forced to pay for them anyway. As a customer, I have never been treated so disrespectfully, and I got the impression that it was not the first time MLIC had dealt with unhappy customers and disputed charges. I warn you not to partake in this scam. I used other materials to prepare for the GRE, including Kaplan and PowerScore (which I was very pleased with) and I scored a 1450. Kaplan is challenging and good for those who plan on getting a high score, and PowerScore offers a great and affordable weekend course along with some good test strategies.
  5. The best approach for preparing for the GRE test: I have been self preparing for the GMAT for a while now, and lately I have started looking into preparing for the GRE. As more and more business schools have started accepting both the GMAT and the GRE scores, it only makes sense to study for both. Moreover, there are a lot of common grounds between the GMAT and the GRE. Since there is an overlap between the GMAT and the GRE, you can study for both tests by making just a little bit more efforts. If you look into the content of the GMAT and the GRE, you’ll discover that there are more similarities than the differences. Another interesting thing I found is that most GMAT and GRE books too have a lot of common content. For all practical purposes, if you want to review the fundamentals, it would be safe to study any GMAT books for the GRE, and vice versa. Generally, the fundamentals are completely identical for both tests. Furthermore, there are not that many differences in the question types. In math, the problem solving questions are almost similar, and the biggest difference is data sufficiency and quantitative comparisons questions. In verbal, basics are again very similar, and the main difference is sentence correction and sentence completion questions. Following are some facts about the GRE Official Guide: -Although published by the test makers, the quality of practice tests is not very good and there are no answer explanations. -Most of the GRE practice tests are very similar, with just different set of numbers. Following are some GRE books to consider: -Kaplan/Princeton/Barrons/Peterson/McGraw – Get one ore more of these books to gain an overall understanding of the test. -EZ Solutions GRE Series – Recommended for serious students who want to ace the math section. I see many posts where many students are not clear about which GRE book to get and this may be assistance to some of you. There will be no need to take a prep course if you have access to the GRE books mentioned above. I really hope that I was able to help at least some of you who are still trying to figure out the best approach to prepare for the GRE. Thanks for reading and good luck with your preparation for the GRE. I am always ready to learn although I do not always like being taught. ~Winston Churchill
  6. Hi, How to solve comparison questions like this: There are 5 points on a place situated such that none of the 3 points make a straight line. Which is greater? A: Number of different line segments that can be drawn taking any two points as fixed points. B: Number of different triangles that can be drawn taking any two points as two fixed vertex points. Thanks in advance!
