hmkwon
I saw on the gradcafe some people got invited for inteverview. Has anyone heard from them? I haven't heard anything and I don't know if it is good news or bad news.
kosker
I received an email yesterday evening, but two hours before that I had seen the first interview post on gradcafe. Therefore, they probably send interview decisions one by one. This is just the first round of the decisions, I think there will be others. hmkwon
Thanks for your reply. My impression is that not everyone is invited for interview, and their website says an interview "may" be involved. I just don't know what it meas to be invited for interview, or not invited. kosker
Yeah, I am also not sure whether all of the competent applicants invited for interview. They may admit some of them directly without any interview process.
hmkwon
Kosker, you were right. I just got an email with an invitation for interview. But now I am worried about the interview... :upset:
kosker
I am also a bit anxious, but this was unexpected for me which makes me feel relieved.
jellicle
I have seen acceptances posted on gradcafe. Still waiting for their decisions.:cold:
Janek
Interview is quite informal - takes 15-30 min (depending on how many questions you have) and they ask about your research, how you'd like to go about it, why TI, where else you applied, why a PhD.. pretty informal :) I felt like it was half-way them trying to advertise TI, which was great, since I didn't know that much about the program before. Good luck to you!
Adam9427
Hi guys! I wonder whether it is really impossible to transfer from Tinbergen (or Tilburg) to a U.S PhD? I also have offer from Barcelona Graduate School where there is a long tradition (at least as far as I know) of sending the best studets to Top US universities. Thank you! vanbasten
bgse is much better as a stepping stone to usa but there is fierce competition. however if you only want an academic career at a good university then definitely phd from usa would be much better for you. if i were you i would try bgse =>usa path if it does not you can still apply to tilburg and tinbergen in the future
Yu Bai
Hi.Is anyone still on the waiting list like me? I have written an e-mail to the director Prof. Andreas Pick but no reply yet.
furyinsane
Tinbergen isn't much of a stepping stone as far as I can tell. Apparently, most students who do the MPhil stay for the PhD or leave academia altogether.
Haael
Hi, everyone, sorry to bring the old thread from the dead, but I'm wondering if anybody has an estimate on the proportion of students who were interviewed and later receive an acceptance offer. I know from TI's website that they accepted in the last cohort ~8% of the applicant pool (roughly 25/300), but it would be nice to know how many from the 300 were interviewed.
