  1. tricky question ..OA is A
  2. Can someone confirm this ?? 1.IMO B 2. IMO B these questions are from Set 8 ... i doubt OA ..please help
  3. @ranjeet :it is really surprising .... you definetly deserve more than this .... i have seen some of your CR posts .. they are pretty good ... may be it was not the day for you ... take a gap and write once more ...all the best ..
  4. perfect CR :) ....it is easy to spot such guys ...
  5. Dear Effective .. I have given few 800 score tests so far . i find questions little difficult .....I find options are very close especially in verbal . It takes considerable time to eliminate wrong choices ..Some CRs look very weired to me ...I think GMAT will be easier than 800 score test:) can you please share your score ?
  6. IMO A as explained before .. option B is a trap .. passage mentions that 'because of grade inflation, the honors degree goes to the 50?% of the graduating class' ... option B reverses this info 'awarding many honors degree causes colleage to inflate grades' this can never be the assumption ...this trap is used in many wrong choices
  7. IMO D ... conclusion is 'everyone who lives long will develop the disease ' .... option D clearly weakens the conclusion by showing that some people lack the chemicals required to convert protein deposits into lesions ...
  8. Yes D seems to be the best option .. DEMAND is always in subjuctive mood .. 'demanded that' is the correct form 'demanded to ' is incorrect.......
  9. does anyone has the OA /source for this ??? IMO A ..explanation alerady given !! Please help..
  10. @Rising sun : thanks for the explanation 1st bold face seems a fact ..because 'during landing ..navigation system uses radio signal' could change in furute .. this is the situation at present... so . 1st bold face is a fact and the argument conclusion is based on this fact .. do you agree with me ?
  11. (B) For the thousands of traumatized victims of one of the worst natural calamities to hit the eastern coast of South America, relief came from a rather unexpected source – the Silicon Valley Millionaires’ Club. --prepositional phrase 'for the thousands ...South America' is non-restrictive in B ...logically it should be restrictive ..it is required to modify 'relief' (D) Relief came for the thousands of traumatized victims of one of the worst natural calamities to hit the eastern coast of South America from a rather unexpected source – the Silicon Valley Millionaires’ Club. --makes the prepostional phrase restrictive ..so probably this is better option .. i am not sure whether such close choices will be there in actual GMAT ...Bob please help in understanding this riddle !!!
  12. IMO B ... 1st bold face is FACT and not a principle ... Principle seems to suggest a fact that is always true ..eternal fact.... I don't have the OA for this :hmm: can someone please explain the difference b/w fact and principle?
  13. 1. Modern navigation systems, which are found in most of today? commercial aircraft, are made with low-power circuitry, which is more susceptible to interference than the vacuum-tube circuitry found in older planes. During landing, navigation systems receive radio signals from the airport to guide the plane to the runway. Recently, one plane with low-power circuitry veered off course during landing, its dials dimming, when a passenger turned on a laptop computer. Clearly, modern aircraft navigation systems are being put at risk by the electronic devices that passengers carry on board, such as cassette players and laptop computer The two portions in boldface play which of the following roles? (A) The first is a principle that the argument relies on and the second is a conclusion that can be drawn from the first. (B) The first is a fact that argument relies on and the second is a conclusion that must be drawn from this argument. © The first acknowledges a consideration that supports that main position; the second is that conclusion. (D) The first is an evidence that supports the conclusion, the second is that conclusion. (E) The first is a principle that is necessary for this argument, the second is a conclusion that could be drawn from this argument.
