Who else wants to talk about GMAT prep and other interesting topics?

Interview Experience at Haas-EWMBA and UCLA-FEMBA.
clockwork replied to anotherlooser's topic in MBA Admissions
Good feedback. I also just found this message about Haas admissions interview tips, directly from the Haas admissions office. They also offer a podcast full of useful interview tips. -
Agreed. This is probably a classic case where some people will mistakenly still be thinking of A when they look at B, and will say that B is sufficient.

Yes, I also got E. The two statements together do not give enough info to answer this one.

I doubt that this is a big deal at all. They will receive the official GMAT scores from GMAC, and that's what really matters. That's such a subtle difference that I doubt they will notice it, anyway!

USA Schools- MBA Admissions ranked only by GMAT/GPA

Thank you for posting this! Interesting that Dartmouth does so well here. -
please evaluate my profile and suggest some schools

I think that you have a competitive profile. The GMAT won't be your problem. The main thing for you will be to perfect your MBA essays and stand out from the pack with your application. If you can do this, then I bet you will have a pretty good chance of getting into a top-ten business school. Just spread your bets and apply to at least three or four of them. -
It depends on each individual law school admissions office's policies, but these are some that take only your highest LSATs: Northwestern Georgetown Thomas M. Cooley Law School John Marshall Law School UCLA Berkeley University of North Carolina University of Illinois University of Oregon Penn Syracuse Cornell Indiana University-Indianapolis St. Louis University

I do not think it is a terrible thing for an MBA aspirant to say that he has been laid off in your MBA application essays, as long as you can explain what happened and show that it was for reasons out of your control (in other words, not because of bad performance). If you can show how you picked yourself up and advanced far in your career despite this setback, that will help your candidacy.

I do not understand your query. You want to go to business school now, before you attend law school? Have you done your GMAT preparation yet? Hey dychen, take a look at some MBA essay samples. What you can do, to determine if you are ready for MBA, is to read these and see if it seems like you are in a similar position.

Definitely don't go with books. Do computer-adaptive practice GMAT exams, since those sill simulate the real exam.
-
The format for each MBA letter of recommendation will completely depend on the school. Some schools ask that the recommendation writer answer very specific questions one by one, while others will accept a more regular business letter, as long as it answers the questions asked. There is no one correct format!

How much for your online GMAT courses? Thank you!
-
Check out Duke, Kellogg, Berkeley and Yale. They're big in non-profit management and social enterprise.

I bet a 690 on the GMAT is good enough to get you in anywhere. But what were your separate scores on the quant and verbal sections? If one is especially low, then you should consider retaking it. If one half of your score is low, that probably matters more than your overall score.

I think saying "an MBA" is fine. That's how people at the school surely use it in speech every day. I don't think they're reading it as "an Masters of Business Administration."

Don't go to Business School - Seth Godin's Alternative MBA
clockwork replied to rnschmidt's topic in MBA Admissions
This is the worst idea I have ever heard. -
V-rap who do you work for? It is clear that you have an agenda. I find it interesting that you espouse exactly the same positioning that corporations like MGMAT use on their web site. Explain yourself. The people want to know. How much are they paying you? All I know is that MGMAT repeatedly LIED To me. I got a 700+ score on my own, not with their crooked "help."

That's not what these guys say: Veritas Prep - Compare Veritas Prep to Manhattam GMAT
-
This is a complete joke. Veritas has repeatedly proven Manhattan GMAT's claims to be false. Take a look at Veritas's site to see what I mean: How does Veritas Prep compare with Manhattan GMAT?

You can always buy a book, read some forums (like this one), read some sample MBA essays, and then decide if you want to hire a consultant.

To What Extent Are Application Deadlines Enforced?
clockwork replied to YoungEconomist's topic in PhD in Economics
From what I know, MBA application deadlines are pretty strictly enforced. They will sometimes accept a second letter of recommendation or new GMAT score after the deadline, though. You can always call the school and ask.
