  1. It does. At least my college's name appears on my F-1 visa as annotation.
  2. I think this is most reasonable (IMHO, best) solution. You won't have trouble in changing the universities while in the USA. Why to take risk and go for visa interview again. (I guess, it can be a problem for you 'cuz India is the country with one of the highest procent in visa denial).
  3. No big deal :) BTW, do you know that 90% of Californian women are sexually active (if you know what I mean ;) ) and 70% of those 90% are sexually attractive? Lucky you are :) Have a very good time in California!
  4. Ummm. I guess, he is from India, Calcutta... Anita, where are you from? I thought Anita is Indian/Pakistanian name:rolleyes: . Correct me if I'm wrong...
  5. Gotcha! That what I was asking you about. The sentence in the bold says that you should come to your college before September 6, 2005. You can not arrive at your school by that time for the reason you mentioned above, right?. At the port of entry immigration officer (DHS (formely INS) officer) will ask you a question why this date is expired. And this can be a problem for you, although not serious one. That is why you need to show him new I-20, not a new visa, with expected report date that is not expired. Easy as it is. :) If you have further questions, don't hesisate to ask. Dilshod Well, you know, I don't have any stamping of that kind on my I-20. Actually, only immigration official at the port of entry is allowed to put a stamp on your I-20 (there is a special space provided on your I-20). But the procedure may vary from country to country, from one consulate to another. I think we should wait for Anita's reply ('cuz she is also from India, maybe from Calcutta, I guess) or maybe reply from Calcuttian (?:)?) student who have/had similar situation.
  6. It is never late to say a word of cogratulations :) . Thank you Bruno! I wish good luck to your sister in her application process. A word of advice. Even if Berea College does not require SAT I, I advise her to take the test and score higher than 1300, or at least 1200+. It will definitely increase her chances on admission. Dilshod
  7. Sorry. My bad. I was reffering to item #5 :) . Can you tell me what does item #5 in your I-20 says? Thanks. Dilshod
  8. You go girl :) ! GSU ranked in top 20 for MBA program. The only thing I didn't understand is if you will live some months in Atlanta, then fly and live in Rio, then in Paris, and finally spend two weeks in China. Or some students will live in Atlanta and others live in Rio/Paris. And what is starting salary for GSU MBA Graduate?
  9. + Carleton College, Colgate University, Connecticut College, Davidson College, Earlham College, Haverford College, Lafayette College, Oberlin College, Reed College, Vassar College, Whitman College My college, Berea College, also gives full scholarships, but admission is very tough. They take one international student out of one hundred applicants. Every year they accept 30 students all around da world out of 3000 applicants who send their applications. Dilshod P.S. BTW, Wellesley College is private women's college (if I'm not mistaken, Hilary Clinton graduated form this college! Very prestigious school). Moongoddess, I encourage you to apply there, you will definitely boost you chances on admission with financial aid. Also check Smith College (alma mater of nancy Reagan), Scripps Collegeand and Mt. Holyoke College.
  10. Don't worry, I will handle this one either :) Your visa stamp mentions the date your American visa expire! (September 2010). I-20 a.k.a. Certificate of Eligibility is a document which is sent to you by university. You took this document on your visa interview, didn't you? Now, take your I-20 and look at the item #7. What does it says? Write back :)
  11. I am sorry to say that, but I think no VO deny visa for no reason. Try to analyze the situation once again and find your own explanations based on your visa exprience. Sometimes, there is an information that people don't want to disclose while filling visa application (DS forms), and that leads to visa denial. The only thing I suggest you [plural] to do when going to visa interview is to tell the whole truth about your relatives in the USA, immigrant visa petitions, your work history and many other things. Believe me, nowadays consulate's database has information on every applicant and the visa counsul knows almost eveything about the applicant he interviews. So, do not lie. Honesty is the best policy. :)
  12. Very good post. But don't forget to give the link.
  13. I think your chances to get into Jesuit colleges are very high (considering your profile). Check out Loyola University, Chicago. It's one of the best Jesuit colleges in the nation. BTW, why you are so interested in Jesuit colleges? :) :hmm:
  14. No, generally TOEFL Test does not replace verbal part of SAT I. But it does NOT mean that colleges do no make exceptions on this. It may depend on college's policy toward stadardized test requirement. You should contact your college officials and ask 'em if TOEFL test could serve as alternative test in case your verbal SAT I score is low. Dilshod Verbal part of SAT I is much, much harder than TOEFL Test, especially analogy section. That is for sure. It took me more than 7 months to learn 8000 words and score 95% on analogies. The vocabulary you need to take TOEFL is limited to maximum 2000-2500 words, so it shouldn’t be a problem for all of you. BTW, after some changes there in no analogy section on SAT anymore, so it is also should be an advantage for you.
  15. Aight, I will handle this one. :) Archillies, DO NOT LISTEN TO ANYONE (WELL EXCEPT ME AND ANITA :) ). YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE YOUR VISA INTERVIEW AGAIN. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TO SEND A LETTER TO YOUR DEPARTMENT AND ASK (DEMAND =) THEM TO SEND YOU NEW I-20. YOU NEED TO SHOW YOUR NEW I-20 AT THE PORT OF ENTRY, WHERE THE OFFICER WILL CHECK THE DATE YOU EXPECTED TO REPORT YOUR SCHOOL. AND THIS DATE SHOULD NOT BE EXPAIRED. THAT IS IT.
  16. Aha, quality, not quantity, that counts! :)
  17. Ziyod, I frankly think that your essay is good. I won't say it is excellent, but it is good. I would give it a score of 4.5. I recommend you to visit www.toefl.ru and read some suggestions about how to write a good TOEFL essay. I also recommend you to visit old tesmagic forum where many TOEFL essay presented, discussed and revised [by Vaya :]. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Dilshodius
  18. Hey yummy :) I was addressing to Archilles saying that he didn't read my post carefully and didn't get the point. You did. :)
  19. Peterson's TOEFL Preparation sucks! Both, 2003 and 2004 editions. It is kinda easy-to-do book comparing to real TOEFL CBT. IMHO, Cambridge Prep. with 7 CDs are more than just good, they are excellent choice for those who going to take TOEFL CBT. I would also recommend Delta's Key to TOEFL Test with 10 Real Tests.
  20. Thanks a lot, guys. It's so nice of you. I really appreciate it. Wish you best of luck in your application process. Dilshodius
  21. Exactly. That what I was talking about in my first post (read between the lines :) )
  22. Well, it's important to know the duration of your current visa. You see, if you got visa for duration of 4 or 2 years, you don't have to worry. You can go to college next year, in January 2006 and then a year (or three) after you can just come back to your homecountry and prolong your visa till the date of completion of your studies. If you have a visa for duration of 6 months I am afraid you have to go for visa interview at American Embassy again. To do this, you have to bring new I-20 with yourself and the letter of admission.
