  1. http://www.businessweek.com/bschools/05/geographic.htm Go to "MidWest" section
  2. MBA is a luxury commodity and they charge for it that way!!! If you get a decent job, I dont think you will be paying off until 65. One of my friends told me that it will take him 5-7 years to pay off his debt (he did MBA from MIT). So even if you extend it by couple of years its not that bad.
  3. I would say retake TOEFL. Blue club --> IBM, GE etc. (one of those S&P 500 components)
  4. Buy this book and you will have a pretty good handle on what to do http://www.nextag.com/How-to-Get-into-57113877/prices-html A relatively old but good book http://www.powells.com/cgi-bin/biblio?inkey=17-0971482217-1
  5. Generally, I have read people mentioning that 80+%ile in both is good for W, so it should be good for Tuck/Duke/Ross too...
  6. There is already this group for 2007 http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/sept2007intake/ Other older groups are with wealth of info. 1. sept2003intake 2. sept2004intake 3. sept2005intake 4. sept2006intake Good Luck!!!!
  7. I know two people who did online, one from Jones International and other I dont recall.... 2 years on, both could not extract any value out of it. Since their online degrees were not accredited by EQUIS/AASCB/AMBA. I am not sure if any of the online MBAs are accredited at all... I will not recommend them.
  8. 34V 50Q should take you over 700.
  9. When I checked last year Utah campus of BYU had only 1 int'l some chinese guy that too I believe must be from LDS/mormon. I think why BYU doesn't have int'l becoz you need to show that your goals align with that of church's and also mostly its a mormon community college with some of the very well connected alumni Jet-blue CEO, Harvard president etc etc... Also I think there is some requirement to "donate" 2 years of your life for missionary activity in Brazil and elsewhere, getting reco from your pastor etc...
  10. I think it does. Unless you plan to retire in that company, you should try to get the best brand tag you can. Harvard brand name goes beyond your first job. My 2 cents.
  11. You have time on your side and if you get 750 in GMAT, I would say go full time in top 5 schools. Also if you take GMAT in October you are already late for this year's cycle. Hence do your homework in the meantime, go full throttle next year and apply as you will be one year older too. After GMAT start reading BW forums, you will do fine. Good luck!!!!
  12. http://www.columbia.edu/cu/business/career/employmentreport/ In general its harder to get H1 after MBA than after say MS in CompSc. but surely not impossible otherwise there wouldn't be Int'l students in Columbia. I don't think you should worry about it.
  13. Yes, you can convert to F1 anytime you want but then that will render your H1 invalid and hence your employment based green card app too. No, unless you stay outside US for 1 year following your graduation. Outside may be Canada though. Practically speaking it is very tough to get H1 again from outside US for MBA jobs. No. Application and immigration status are totally separate. Also about your employer agreeing to hold H1 while you study is all illegal. H1 is a work visa not a study visa. Schools won't buy that. Only way to join school in your situation is F1 EAD Green card CitizenGood Luck!!!
  14. There are some conerns about Babson's placement and career placement office. BU is considered stronger in that area. However, babson has higher overall rank in BW 2004.
  15. Generally schools ask for double spaced essays to enable readers comment on them right at the spot in a print-out. Its nothing to do with hard to read. I would go with signle/double space based on information I have to put-in and also depending upon other essay's formatting. I would not make one essay single spaced and others double. Just be consistent. My 2 cents.
  16. Congratulations Grey!!! What a grand finishing touch :-)
  17. I am leaning towards UT-Austin. No news from ISB yet, they will start review of waiting list sometime march third week. Will keep you posted. But final decision of whether I can join or not depends on that ever elusive green card. Without getting green card, It's not prudent to join any school on F1 (I have already run out of my 6 years of H1) How things are at your end? Where all did you apply ?
  18. Well, I saw one employer survey on mba.com The survey ranked qualities, which employers look for when they recruit MBAs. So-called "Leadership" ranked 14 out of 17 qualities. Ethics topped the chart. If I find that link again, I will post it. Anyway that survey is free if you search enough you will find it. Dont underestimate yourself. Go for it baby!!!
  19. Applied to 5 places UCLA: Ding ISB: waitlist CMU-Tepper: Waitlist UTA-McCombs: Admit, no info on scholarship yet Simon: Admit+30% schol This forum has been very helpful in this voyage. Thanks a lot Erin for keeping it up and running.
  20. I have never heard of it but I was able to locate it on google http://www.hult.edu/master/default.asp Directions: http://www.hult.edu/master/about/howto.asp Even though I travelled same green line for more than a year, never saw any students from Hult. Interesting to note that unlike other "top" schools its website does not talk about any type of statistics: placement, student body composition, GMAT, average salary just nothing. Also another intersting statement http://www.hult.edu/master/admissions/how.asp "As over 90% of our students are non-native speakers of English, we do realize that non-native speakers’ scores are generally about 100 points lower than native English speakers." Anecdotal evidence seems to counter their intelligence. Evidence suggests that at any top-5 schools average GMAT score for Indian candidates (non-native speakers) are at least 40 points higher than the rest of the pack. I seriously doubt Hult even gives a proper degree. The website does not talk about any accredition from either of AASCB, AMBA or EQUIS. I would say use your money wisely and stay away from Hult.

  22. Essentially Std Deviation is difference from Mean. By adding 5 to data set, difference from mean remains unchainged. Hence its "d" or option A
  23. If you happen to be from Indian-IT-Male, I dont think 690 will cut ANY ice in top tier, unless you have something to make you standout for example you might have stellar XC, which most Indian-IT-Males lack. for Indian-IT-Males average GMAT = school avg + 40 I myself have 680 and hoping that my XCs will work for me. Will find out in another month. BTW, I dont understand ETS scoring. With 48Q & 35V I managed only 680. Well, whatever. Good Luck!!!
  24. I believe this Q is in OG-10e. Check it there. A lot of wrong answers are there in retired test papers, which are in MSWord format.
