For 1. I guess D must the be correct choice. The rest of the anser choices, A,B, and C has redudant construction - declining and down esentially mean the samethin. Of the remaining choices, only D has the correct idiomatic construction. For 3: I guess the correct response is D. Each of the other anwser choices has some errors.

IMO D: Which in A,B,C refers to population and hece ruled out. Between D and E, E does not follow the parallel construction.
