  1. I am an undergraduate student majoring in economics and I took an intriductory class in sociology in my first semester. I liked it a lot as it reveals some patterns in social behavior other fields of study fail to see. As for the logic, I think it's a mistake to search for purely mathematical logic in sociology, rather it's the author's individual thought and viewpoint that logically take you somewhere, revealing a hidden pattern, and then you can accept or doubt its existence. I hope you like the course anyway, if you are taking one. :)
  2. Even if our thread is not the longest, we still participate according to the Olympic principle. :)
  3. What are your hobbies? Concentrating on them will help. Other suggestions from me: do sports, go on a trip, go out with your friends or partner, and don't do anything connected with English in the next few days if possible. Good luck in relaxing! :)
  4. Hello, edwina! For me, AUBG is a great place with lots of Bulgarians and foreigners exchanging experience and enjoying a community of hard work and lots of fun all together. Visit the AUBG site for more details or write to admissions@aubg.bg - I am sure they will be glad to assist you. I will laso write you a PM with some details about the university. If anyone else is interested, I will be glad to help.
  5. nora, thank you! Please, follow my example, don't be shy and submit your scores, if any! There is nothing to be shy of if they are low, it happens to everybody. If they are high, there is still nothng to by shy of. :D
  6. sdcr, I would like to congratulate you on two things: first, your awesome score, and second, your courage - I mean, you and I are the only ones that have submitted their scores. How come? :hmm:
  7. Is this your personal list for a happy life? :D Anyway, here are some from me: 1. Love and work are like the electric and magnetic fields - together, they complement, support, and strengthen each other. 2. Optimism may not be the most logical way of thinking but it is the most effective and the most pleasant. 3. Reality is always worse than your happiest dreams, but also better than your worst nightmares. Some rational balance between the two gives the best picture of what is going on. 4. Better crazy than lazy. Boring compared to yours, but still... ;)
  8. Einstein said it best: "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind." I am also studying Economics and I do it because I like the field and believe I can contribute the most to my own and the other's well-being by working in it afterwards. I also want to gain knowledge about the world market mechanisms and then assess them as just or unjust according to my own value system, part of which is based on religious beliefs. For me, here is where religion steps in in the process of gaining knowledge in Economics.
  9. I am also a believer, Christian Orthodox from Bulgaria. We don't need to believe in God to be happy, but it helps.
  10. I don't know what this is, but I guess they mean that a sentence is more understandable when you put the shorter part first: Leaps of 30 feet or more are possible becasue of the lack of gravity on the Moon. Anyone else have a suggestion?
  11. We can use "primarily indicates" but not "primarily indicates OF". We use "of" with "indicator", the noun, and not with the verb.

  13. Similar question from me: how can I learn Chinese, Japanese, and Korean for 24 hours, travel to Naptune for a breath of fresh air, and after that win from the lottery without buying at least 10 000 ticklets? anon, I guess we face the same answer: impossibility. :p
  14. Does anyone have a motto, a clear statement that has guided him/her throughout life's difficulties? Here's mine: For the goals, listen to your heart. For the means, listen to your brain. It has never failed with me. How about you guys? Do you have a phrase that you like the most?
  15. Nice whim. Thanks for the angels. ;)
  16. Hey, almost a month of inactivity in this thread!!! Keep it up, guys, don't embarrass the forum! ;)
  17. Ok, just name the favor and we'll see what we can do. :)
  18. My TestMagic->Control Panel->Settings and Options->Edit Signature and then Save Signature. That's it. Enjoy! :)
  19. School is going great. I'm now a freshman at The American University in Bulgaria and I love it. Courses are tough and I hardly find time to attend to TestMagic, for which I apologize. We have over 75000 members! Great!
  20. iahme, the most efficient way to raise your score (at least this was was the case with me) is to do all the practice tests you can find, but after you have acquainted yourself with enough words from the 3500-word SAT vocabulary. Make yourself a schedule for learning depending on the time left to the exam date. Reading boks and all sorts of other texts also helps, of course, but the process is much slower. Good luck on the exams! Erin, can you do something to motivate people to submit their scores?
  21. Don't worry! You are not alone, although it often seems like that. :D Now that my finals are over, I will definately have more time to post in the next month.
