Hi guys. I got admit from NEU in MS CS by snail mail a couple of days back. Incidently, the same day i got that email from the NEU housing dept. So i guess they must have already sent the admit by snail mail and would have sent the email afterwards............. If thats true (iand i think it is) then you guys are already admitted to NEU. CONGRATS!!

I second blitz_whiz. Offline dates are available in the Mumbai consulate. Even i have confirmed that. So chill.

Hey, i voted for not defering. If you are NOT satisfied with your job AND If your job is NOT relevant to your interest AND If you have already 'wasted' 2 years in a non-relevant non-satisfying job....... I dont know why you want to 'waste' one more year in such a job??? Either go for USC....OR find a job you like and defer the admission! (Hope its not too harsh. But thats what i would have done :D) Mandar Tillu.

Talking about schools with delayed admission decision............... I havent yet heard from VTech. Nor have i heard of any Vtech admits.(MS CS)

I was planning to give it, but cancelled at the last moment. Btw, wont get a TA for MS CS in USC anyway. (Aid for MS candidates is almost impossible in USC) So, finally it was a wise decision. :D Mandar Tillu.

I second ranji. Its Austin over Cornell. No much difference in rankings. Also Austin is a lot cheaper.

I second gforce. I have also heard that UFL is better for databases. Not so good for Networking and Security.(Though it may be on the same level as Stony Brook in this case, but i dont have concrete info in this regard.) Stony Brook is better for MS than PHD. No idea about UFL.

Hey, I am from India. It takes anywhere from 2-5 weeks for the post to reach from US to India. If the university has posted the admit letter & I20 then dont worry, you will get it in a week or two. ( In general. I dont know about the time required for the post to reach a central EU country!) Also contact the university and explain them the current situation about the deadline and follow their directions. Also in most cases you can accept the admit via email. But confirm this with your school.

The two main reasons on the basis of which the visa officers reject students are: 1) Potential Immigrant. 2) Insufficiant Funds. But they may/may not need any reason to reject.

No new CS rankings in 2006. The latest rankings available for CS are from 2002.

Guys (and gals too!), By 'brightest' i mean if a child is CLEARLY brighter than his/her sibling then he/she should be chosen. Else the debate is still open !
