I have been admitted to both LSEs EME and BGSE Masters in Economics. Both of them are unfunded. I just wondered which has the best outcomes in terms of PhD placements? I have looked at some of the data on the websites but also wanted to get a second opinion on here! In terms of research interests, I am interested primarily in Empirical Macro. Additionally: 1) If I attend BGSE, I would take the advanced track. 2) I have no prior research experience. 3) LSE's course is twice the price of BGSE advanced track!

I received a few admissions offers for PhD in management. I have rejected all but two (so I have 2 in hand offers). It's a tough choice: one school has better location and stipend, the other has a better ranking and shorter program. I am considering whether it might make sense to enrol in both, rather than choose. In a sense they are complementary. In terms of coursework, there are synergies - both have similar required curriculum, so there won't be a ton of extra work that I'd need to put in. In terms of the actual research output, based on my ongoing work, I feel confident that I should be able to produce 2 separate, different and competent pieces of PhD theses. Any thoughts/perspectives on this idea? Is this legal? Esp. in terms of immigration rules. Any thoughts on what the universities may say about this? (I don't want to bring this up with either, if it means I would piss them off and get my offer rescinded) Possibly relevant details: Both are in Europe (one in EU), and I am a third country national. The funding at both is via so-called assistantship "jobs" (which are taxed as such), not true stipends. The locations of the universities/countries are such that it is practical, at least financially to attend both for the coursework...even if that means round trips every week.

I have been accepted both in Maryland (21k) and Minnesota (23k), and I do not know what to choose. I know Minnesota is great in Macro, but even though I used to like Macro I like it less and less every day. So, nowadays I think I do not want to focus on Macro for my research, and neither I want to focus in empirical IO which is the other strength of Minnesota. I am more interested now in applied micro and issues of Development and Political Econ. Because of these reasons now I am leaning towards Maryland rather than Minnesota. Also in terms of location I prefer the weather of Washington DC than the one of Twin Cities. However I am afraid of taking that path, since in terms of placement Minnesota is far better than Maryland. Am I crazy if I choose Maryland over Minnesota? Please share your opinions.

I am interested in macro, international economics, macro-finance. Given i get admitted to both, with full funding, which one should i choose? I know Frankfurt is very big in macro, but how about DIW/BDFEMS? I prefer Berlin (city-wise) over Frankfurt 1923838 times but as someone who isn't so interested in academia but rather at policy institutes / central banks, this is a tough decision for me. Phd is a grueling process so i think where i live matter in terms of my quality of life but also i understand some location advantage of Frankfurt cannot be ignored and their job placement history is quite impressive and pretty much what i want after graduating... help will be much appreciated.

Hi, Seeking your kind advice on which all universities to apply for PHD in Economics. My profile in brief: GRE score 318, Quant 161 & Verbal 157 BE and MBA from most premier institutes of India (NIT & IIM) - 70% marks (do not know in GPA terms) 10 years of work experience, working with top Indian conglomerates in Corporate Strategy & Business Analysis Any help is deeply appreciated.
