Hi Sanjay,

Super score you have there! :) I just want to break the 1400 barrier: more like 800Q and 600V...

Was wondering if you got the results for AWA. I've started today to practice the Issue Argument, submitted my very first attempt to ScoreItNow and got a 5!!! I find it... well, let's say, unexpected!!! :D Was your real score consistent with the ScoreItNow score???

Good luck with your application!

All the best,

Cristina

Hey Cristina,

What a co-incidence. Just today I checked up my AWA score via telephone and found out that I got a 5.0. These results co-relate exactly with the ScoreItNow results that I used to get. Looks like ScoreItNow does a pretty good job of predicting your AWA score. Maybe a +/- 0.5 point variation.

Sanjay: Did you ever go to the basic gre diagnostic page and see how many answers you got wrong? I did. This service is free. I am also allowed to share the details of my performance. Although I still scored high in verbal, I clearly gave in to stress because I rarely make mistakes on analogies and antonyms. I am so lucky that I pulled off the score I did.

QUANTITATIVE: 800/800 94th percentile

VERBAL: 740/800 99th percentile

Sanjay: Unfortunately, I think you just have to wait.

Don't worry, your score report should arrive any day now. I got 6 wrong in quant (cuz I was so depressed) and still got a perfect score. I totally blew off the data interpretation. I got 4 wrong in verbal (cuz I was so depressed) and still got 740. Amazing that I pulled this off after I totally wasted too much time in the experimental section and lost all my confidence during the test. LOL.

I got the first 15 quant problems all right though.

Hi Sanjay,

I think you should call ETS - they can give you your registration number if you give them your confirmation number and some other info. I had to have my registration number in order to fill out the NSF application in time, but only had the confirmation number from my test center's bill, so I called up ETS and they had no problem giving it to me.

Also, if you took the subject test, make sure you're clear about which registration number you need. (Personal experience here, sorry to say...)

@ GRE_KICKBOXER,

Wow, u had 6 wrong and got a perfet score in quant? CATs can be very unpredictable and annoying. I had 8 wrong and got 760. I was wrong on the 2nd question and from there got all right until the 17th question. Failed 18-21 and got the rest right. And ETS gave me a mere 760 in quant. Well, I'm rewriting it next week on the 21st of November. Hope to pull through this time. Shall keep you guys updated.

Hi Eyo!

Yah, I think you really have to do well on the first 15 questions. You also have to look at how many HARD questions you got right. The easiest questions are 1, and the hardest questions are 5.

QUANTS: I got 15/18 LEVEL 5 Questions right.

The rest of my questions were pretty much all LEVEL 4 except 1 or 2.

I think when you answer a lot of level 5 questions right they know that you may run out of time and make some mistakes. The total number of questions you get right is just part of the equation. What is really important is the total number of high difficulty questions you answer.

I totally bombed on data interpretation because I was so frustrated and didn't have motivation. I got 3/4 data interpretation problems wrong. I couldn't concentrate well. :)

Hi Sanjay,

I'm pretty sure that I just called the General Inquiries line (1-866-473-4373). I think I just pressed whatever button it was to speak to a customer service rep, but honestly I don't remember. (The worst that could happen is someone will transfer you to the right dept. if you end up talking to the wrong person.) I gave them my confirmation number, birth date, etc. and they replied with my registration number almost immediately.

Verbal - Got 3 wrong. 2 Rc's and 1 Analogy

Hey Sanjay, Ramin and those of you who did very well on the Exam.

I was wondering when you were taking Kaplan and power prep tests, did you take all the sections of test, I mean including the AWA in one sitting. Because I have realized by starting from the beginning of the test, by the time I get to the Verbal, I feel so tired that I go through questions much slower than If I were to take only the math and the verbal section. It seems like I need to work on the stamina for the actual test but I'm still struggling with that! I would appreciate any suggestions from your own experiences!

Thank you so much

Sanjay: I got 6 wrong in quant and got 800. You got 0 wrong and got 800. I think if I wasn't totally depressed I could have gotten just 2 wrong, but not a perfect score. I could have got a perfect score if the test was untimed. I'm not fast enough to get a perfect score untimed. Dude, I think you actually deserved 950/800 in quant you friggin' genius. :)

They should have a special note on the GRE test report for those that get all the answers correct. There's a big difference between you and the average 800 scorer.

Like I said, anyone that can get 49/50 on the GMAT math section the first time they try and without any practice is EXTREMELY good at math. That's a very high level math talent test.

I got 7/8 reading comprehension questions correct in the verbal section. I think that's what gave me the 740. (Somehow I did this even though I wasn't paying attention to what I was reading.) I can't believe I got antonyms and analogies wrong. That's clearly a matter of me not concentrating. Getting an 800 in verbal wouldn't have been that hard. Again, that's only an ego thing though. Verbal is my strength.

Getting a 6 in Analytical writing is one of the easiest parts of the whole test for me, I think. All that requires is a bit of non-linear right brain creative thinking which I seem to be better at than straight forward left-brain thinking.

Ancalagon, stop your complaining with your sky high IQ, ok? :) Just teasing.

This again shows how bizarre the GRE is. How can someone who got 6 questions wrong and someone who got none wrong get the same score? There should be a way to distinguish between the 2 scores. That way the candidate who was able to answer all the questions right can be rewarded for their effort. I think Sanjay's performance was very good. My friend got 9 questions wrong and still got an 800 so I think he doesn't deserve the same 800 as Sanjays lol.
