  1. What do you consider a second-tier journal? Give us approximate RePEc ranking range. My advisers talked me out of publishing anything pre-PhD, saying that in six years I'll be ashamed of these pubs anyway (even if now they look good) and will hide them from my CV during the job market :) As to whether low-tier pre-PhD pubs help in the admission process, the answer is that they won't hurt, but you might as well just send them as writing samples. That's what I did, and it actually played out great because I've been asked multiple times about my writing samples during interviews (I've applied to econ groups at business schools that, due do smaller target cohorts, usually conduct interviews), which means that the adcoms at least had a glimpse at them. That said, If you really want to establish some presence, try sending your thesis to a working/discussion paper series instead. Here is the comprehensive list of them EconPapers: Working Paper Series
  2. Just to add my two cents: Coventry, UK is depressing af. I don't know anyone (except, maybe, Sascha Becker) from Econ department at Warwick who likes the surroundings.
  3. This year admit here. 35k first two years, 38k afterwards. However, there is probably some variation across areas (Finance, BPP, etc.)
  4. Just to add about the waitlist movements: two schools where I am waitlisted have scheduled skype interviews for early April. These are not Department of Econ programs though, but econ groups at business schools. So yes, I believe Wahasky's post is pretty accurate.
  5. There is a UChicago Harris PhD acceptance on the GC. Can anybody confirm? Last years they seem to have been sending automated emails asking to check the website instead of personalized emails...
  6. Boston College on GC: hoax or legit? Can anyone confirm?
  7. I will most likely decline my Maryland offer, but it will happen in the second half of March: I want to use it (and the rest of my offers) for bargaining with a couple of other schools where I am waitlisted myself. Good luck to you!
  8. So, I contacted one of the prof from UChicago Harris (he is very active on twitter), and he said they are still reviewing PhD/Master applications... No news from Harris until March, that is.
  9. I know, right? I believe I saw someone claiming that they've rolled out PolSci admits (can't confirm), but not the econ track yet (that's for sure, those econ track admits on GC are fake), so there is still hope. Not that I really believe I will be admitted though :)
  10. lol it was me who posted that info about about Kennedy. Not trolling, I emailed grad coordinator a week ago and she replied today.
  11. Thanks. No, it seems pretty standardized. Very friendly and polite though.
  12. BTW, I was contacted by Harvard Kennedy: they will post decisions for PEG (Econ track) today after 5 pm (Cambridge, MA time). Just in case there is someone else here as naive as myself, still hoping to get into this program :)
  13. Any word on when they are going to unpack the results? Econ and Business Econ, it seems, announced everything already.
  14. I am waiting for Harris PPOL, Maryland Econ, Harvard PEG
