  1. Question: Some people like to do only what they already do well. Other people prefer to try new things and take risks. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your choice. People, in general, have different perspectives toward the way they can live their lives, in other words, your lifestyle. Some people think that they will live for once, and for that reason, they decided to choose an adventurous lifestyle. Other people prefer to live ordinarily without taking any risk. Given the choice between the two lifestyles, I would always prefer to live in an adventurous lifestyle. while there are many reasons, I will discuss mt top two in the following essay. Firstly, we only live our life for once, and throughout this journey, we must experience a different type of feelings that come with the new adventures, and these experiences every time will add something new to your personality such as break the fear from something that usually scared you all over your life. Take this or example, when you have the fear of public speaking in front of a huge audience, and to break this fear you decided to participate in an important university speech, to that you will need to learn, search, and practice to achieve this challenge. In other words, trying new things gives you the courage to do it, and helped you to add new skills to your personality. On the other hand, living in an ordinary lifestyle will not add any new experiences in your life, which means the same personality, the same fears, and of course the same skills. Moreover, we live in our present-days in fastly changing world which requires us to change and learn more and more to cope with this development. In addition to that, did you imaging as you get old, what will you remember from your youth? I can tell you, nothing, except the usual things that you get used to doing it day by day. What I mean by this, don't allow yourself to regret your youth, just because you wanted to do what you learned to do. In conclusion, I strongly prefer to live my life on the edge, in an adventurous way rather than regretting my self later.
  2. Some young adults want independence from their parents as soon as possible. Other young adults prefer to live with their families for a longer time. Which of these situations do you think is better? Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion. Personally, I believe that young adults should live with their families even If they are able to live on their own. I feel this way for two reasons, which I will explore in the following essay. First of all, staying together with families saves cost of living, which allows young adults to utilise their money in a more sophisticated way. Nowadays, cost of living is high especially when we talk about buying a new house. By staying with parents, young adults do not have to buy a new house which further burden their financial problem. For instance, about ten years ago, when my elder brother got married, he chose to stay with my parents as he knew he would not be able to buy a new house as soon as after the wedding party since the wedding ceremony took a lot from his savings. This saves his cost of living because he did not have to pay for rentals or loans. After that, he put his savings in fixed deposit account and invested trustable financial products with stable returns. Eventually, he was able to earn fair amount of money for future through these investments. This would not be possible without staying together with families. Secondly, staying together with families maintains and strengthens lovely family relationship. Parents have more chance to get in touch with their children. If young adults choose to stay outside, it limits the amount of time for parents to meet their children face to face. This eventually weakens the family relationship and as time goes on, young adults tend to leave their parents alone. My personal experience is a compelling example of this. About three years ago, I chose to live in a hostel in my university instead of staying with families. At first, I go back to my parent’s house once per week. After a few months, I did not really go back to the house, providing excuses like assignments and exams. I realised that our family relationship become not as lovely as before. We tend to behave like a stranger for quite a while. Fortunately, I decided to live with my families after I graduated and now, I get my lovely family back! In conclusion, I am of the opinion that young adults should live with their families for a longer time. This is because it saves cost of living and because it maintains good family relationship.

  4. Hi, wish I can get some help or thoughts.... I got offers from these schools but cannot see which one is dominant. My current interest is in macro, and rochester seems to be good at it traditionally. But BU has more advantage in location (which also means expensive to live). Although psu is a rising department with pretty good funding, I'm not sure of its marco performance.....Many thanks for sharing
  5. Hi guys, I have passed my EE in July 2015 and now planing for MCQ in May 2019, it is a long gap but my circumstances did not allow me to appear earlier than that. I need your sincere suggestions and advices because this will lead me to take a decision regarding my situation. My situation is: I live in Regina, Sk but planing to go to Toronto in January 2019 just to join Pharmachieve MCQ full course starting Feb 2019, and dedicate full 5-6 months for the preparation 24/7. Do you think Pharmachieve is a good source to get training, and have anybody have attended in-persons classes from them? i need some sort of physical classes to keep me on track, i know i can do it at home by myself or online by live lectures. I will also look for the physical group there to have discussion and combined studies. Your advice is highly precious for me Thanks
  6. Hi Urchers, As said on the topic, I got an offer of University of Florida with $22k financial support (but there will be around $2k of other fees I have to pay). Is this amount sufficient to live there? I'm not a big spender by the way. Thanks you all in advance.
  7. Hi everyone, I got in Auburn U w/ assistantship about 15k. I wonder is this amount enough to live in Auburn? Thank you all a lot.
  8. Which one should I go to guys (Aussie Chinese from Melbourne background)? I should have applied to USA but I didnt realise the preference for USA grads.... I don wanna live like a poor guy for 4 years and then be jobless or worse settle for a non phd job....:sorrow::sorrow::miserable::miserable:
  9. I've been seeing A LOT of request for speaking partners. But this worries me a bit. One thing is that just speaking with another TOEFL candidate, while possibly somewhat helpful, is not really going to advance you that much. In fact, I can see that it might even re-inforce some of the mistakes and myths about TOEFL that are out there (you ever see those posts by people that have been stuck at 22-24 points for months, or even a year or more?..... most often, they are repeating the same mistakes about TOEFL again and again, and they do not even know it!). The other problem is security. Giving your skype or other info out to strangers, though probably not a bid deal, just makes be naturally nervous. So, I talked with our school's administration and they agreed to make an online room available for students to workshop their speaking sections, and it will be moderated by a teacher! Now please understand, this is not a class led by a teacher. Rather, this is an online "classroom" where students can speak with each other, and give each other feedback, securely. A teacher will moderate the speakings and will provide some comments, but the idea is that it will be generally student led. This is free. There is no charge or anything like that. If you are currently a member of our system, just follow the links and log in, if you are not a member you may: 1) PM me with your name and email and I will make you an account OR 2) If you are not sure about that yet, then just follow the link and then join as a GUEST.
