1. Normally I would say that asking in person is the right way to go about it but now that I can't actually meet my professor in person, should I ask him by email for a recommendation letter? Or should I ask him to meet on zoom or something, I am hesitant to do this because it just seems like it would inconvenience him
 2.

This is the issue prompt. Although sound moral judgment is an important characteristic of an effective leader, it is not as important as a leader’s ability to maintain the respect of his or her peers. Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position. Here goes my response A leader who is well respected amongst his peers is a motivated and happy person thus proving very effective in motivating his subordinates/peers as well. But, if garnering respect comes at the cost of him having to choose between being moral or not, the person is better off being morally sound. A leader who is not morally sound is inefficient in his task as a leader and this fact will always fill them with guilt. People will look down upon them. A leader's ego is most satisfied when he garners respect from his/her peers, but if it were to be compared to the moral judgement of a person, moral judgement according to me always comes out on top. When a leader is morally sound, he exudes a positive vibe that is infectious to his/her followers, thus creating a culture of morality amongst his followers in their judgements. Another compelling argument to support my position would be that when a morally sound person make important decisions he considers the interests of all the stakeholders without being selfish or biased. This, in turn promotes a culture where no one's interests is neglected. A decision taken with a moral outlook, might even do as to harm a leader's standing amongst his peers, when they see him neglecting a popular decision in favor of a decision which is morally sound. At this point, the individuals approach should be towards being moral rather than impressing his peers. But if we consider the other side of the argument, a leader who garners less respect from his peers,is mostly unhappy, there is lack of motivation in his/her worklife thus impacting the overall well being of the person and his family, hence being immoral to himself and his family. But, all facts considered a person is better off being occasionally unhappy from loosing respect amongst his peers because he took an unpopular decision, rather than go for a popular decision which is morally wrong.

4. Q. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Always telling the truth is the most important consideration in any relationship between people. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. My response: I strongly believe that honesty is the best policy. Having said that, I have also come to realize that nothing is absolute, including ‘truth’. Everything is relative, and like so many other things, whether one should tell the truth or not in a relationship also sometimes depends upon the situation. Our intentions and actions are dependent upon the context in which we see things and our previous experiences. So one should make an effort in rationally understanding the reason behind somebody’s thought process when told the truth. In a situation where, a person has made a mistake or done something unintentionally and later realized that it might end up hurting the other person, I think coming out clean about what one did is the way to go. As until one tells the truth, one keeps on feeling guilty about that act of error. So, for one’s own peace of mind and clear conscience, I would recommend telling the whole truth. In the end, if the other person truly respects and cherishes the relationship, they would understand and let bygones be bygones. Whereas in a situation where even telling the truth might not help the problem or maybe even make it worse, it is better to not say anything. For example, if somebody is behaving in an erratic manner because they are going through an emotionally difficult phase, it will not help to confront that person with the blatant truth. In that case, one should support that person and give them their space. If their behavior is going out of hand, then maybe it can be subtly pointed out in a manner that will not hurt their feelings too much but will also let them know what the issue is. Such situations are tricky and need to be handled very carefully. As relationships can be very involved at times, there is no one right answer to that question. However, from my personal experience I can say that telling the truth is the right thing to do in more than ninety percent of the situations.
 5. While it is not entirely without merit to claim that the goals one sets for oneself are fundamental on the road to success, the goals themselves are in fact not the perfect measurement of true success. In my opinion, the goals we set for ourselves are far from enough for us to achieve true success, and therefore true success should not be primarily measured only in terms of the goals. Some might argue that an ambitious and practical goal can set a clear direction for us to prevent us from going astray. However, in order to become a truly successful person, a clear direction is not enough. In fact, a considerable number of other important qualities are required to achieve success in addition to the goals one sets for oneself. For example, if a person is not persistent in the pursuit of his goals, the goals he sets for himself would only remain as mere imagination that will never be transformed into success. Michelangelo spent four years painting his masterpiece on the ceiling of Sistine Chapel. Before the frescos were finished, however, Michelangelo went through a really hard time when he had no money and suffered painfully from the physical discomfort of constantly standing on the wooden scaffolds and paint with his face looking upwards. If Michelangelo did not have the unrelenting determination to complete his painting, he would have been regarded as only an outstanding sculptor and would never have been known as also one of the most talented painters during the Renaissance. Not only persistence is one of the deciding factors of becoming a successful person, but resilience is also a crucial indicator of success as well. Suppose a person has both set his ambitious goals and put tremendous effort and energy into his goals, but if he is afraid of failure and easily gives up once defeated, he will definitely not be able to achieve true success. Elon Musk, the legendary entrepreneur, not only made incredible lofty goals such as sending humans to Mars, devoted a considerable amount of time and energy into his visionary projects, but also possessed an uncanny resilience in front of failure. As has been proved by his own words, “If you are not failing enough, you are not innovating enough”, Elon musk refused to quit even when SpaceX had crashed its rockets so many times that it was on the brink of bankruptcy. If Elon Musk had relinquished his space projects in the face of failure, he would have become broken and trapped in huge debt, and he would never have become the successful entrepreneur and billionaire he is today. As we can see, the goals one sets for oneself are by no means an accurate measurement of true success. Without important attributes such as resilience and persistence, true success can never be attained even if the goals themselves are ambitious.
