  1. I have funded offers from both these places, and I need to pick one. Interests: (behavioral)game theory, not likely to change to anything outside micro theory. Any opinions regarding these options would be very helpful. Thanks.
  2. I have a magoosh account unused because the grad school I got accetped to didn't need the GRE and I only found this out after paying. I never even touched the account . I am giving up my account for 45-50 dollars which I think is a great steal when I played over 100 for 6 months for this and still 4 months left. You can change the password and change email to yours so account is totally yours email me at malujj23@yahoo.com if interested. I accept payment in bitcoin, bitcoin cash , litecoin, or ethereum This is not a joke or scam I have uploaded the screenshots thru image bb https://ibb.co/chNTeK https://ibb.co/h8reKK https://ibb.co/deKYeK https://ibb.co/cVDqte Once payment received you get the password and can change to your email and change password
  3. Hi guys. I've got quite a serious problem that I caused myself. I believe that I made a wrong decision when choosing which offer to accept. I feel that I did what other people were advising me to do and that I didn't follow what my heart was signaling. I know it's a very stupid thing to ask about, but do you think it is theoretically possible to change the decision after the April 15th deadline - after I accepted one offer and rejected another, assuming that the other school didn't get any other student off their waitlist (they didn't have one)?
  4. For several months I try to contact somebody who is able to change my nickname and who has the time to do that. I understand that we are all grown up here and we should know that the internet is public and not everybody is our friend. However, I absolutely did not expect people from outside the forums to read my forum posts here, and I also did not expect my posts and other things to be interesting for certain people, partly including journalist networks of real size who friendly poke fun at me, but it's not only fun, because I get approached about my posts here on almost a daily basis, offline, in real life, which I thought was not connected to here at all. The problem is I used the nickname also for other things and people misbelieve the reasons. It would be more than useful if I could get my nickname changed, so that it longer leads the Google ranking with the name which I never expected to become famous nor become widely known connected with me. Different to Bing Google recognizes interest of readers, and sorts according to this. I just posted around to play, not always sober, but people think these posts are my life and as time goes by it really becomes very annoying. I cannot turn on a social network without being reminded of my partly silly forum posts here. Can please finally somebody change my nickname into any other ? This would be totally enough. I do have a secret word and I would like to reveal the forum nickname to be changed + the secret word via private message or via email to/from request2urch@icloud.com . Please contact me via PM or Email to know the secret word and nickname to be changed My second and last post would be the Thank you here.
  5. This is taken from The Official SAT Study Guide, Practice Test 1. The following essay is my own work. People may change if they encounter an inspiring individual, or a significant event happens to them. Such encounters or events may cause a person to change his or views on certain issues, or even his or her philosophy of life. I used to be inattentive to detail when I was young. I would glance through a passage and not spot the error, or miss out important details on a maths question. It was my foolish view that such errors did not matter, and I could get through life without having to correct these errors. The time came when I had to apply for university, for which I had to complete an application form, including a statement describing myself. Thinking that it was an easy piece of writing, I spent relatively little time on it. It was only when my teacher pointed out glaring grammatical and spelling errors that I realized the potential repercussions. “Is this really what you’d like to sound like to an admissions tutor? An inattentive student who doesn’t know the difference between “you’re” and “your”?” my teacher pointed out harshly. I knew from then on that I could not continue to be slovenly in detail, whether it be writing or everyday life. People may change if a tragic event happens to them. A long-term alcoholic has been ignoring the pleas of his family members for years; he had tried to stay off drinking for a brief period of time, then he would fail to resist the great temptation of a cool drink, and descend into drunkenness and violence. One day he found out that his wife had terminal cancer. He would dutifully visit her every day, albeit always drunk and untidy. His wife said nothing about this, until he last day, when she said, “I want you to live a good life after me.” He had finally realized that his drinking had been causing much misery and sorrow in his dysfunction family. It dawned on him that he could never see her again, having wasted so many years in insobriety and unconsciousness. The morals of the two stories are that people can, and do change, no matter how unoptimistic the outlook may be. We are all equipped with the ability to change; indeed, change must come from within, but it must also be catalyzed by a powerful external force. Only then will the change last. 6. The twentieth century has seen great change. In your opinion, what is one change that should be remembered about this century? Give specific reasons and details to explain your choice. The twentieth century has seen many great changes. In my opinion, one of such changes that should be remembered is the revolutionary change in information and communication technology. This change is worth mentioning because it has affected people’s lifestyle greatly. If distance communication in the beginning of the twentieth century could take long time, in the end of the same century, such communication took only seconds. People living in one side of the world can be immediately informed of what has just happened in the other sides of the world. Some of the effects resulting from such a revolutionary change are as follows. First, this change has accelerated modernization in many parts of the world. The easy exchange of information has admittedly inspired many nations in the world to engage and compete in technological advancement which gradually makes less developed countries have no choice but to catch up with their more developed counterparts, because lagging behind in technology can threaten their survival. Second, this change has promoted openness and transparency. The advent of modern information technology has opened so wide access to information that no government or institution can operate in secrecy any more. In the early twentieth century, due to the technology of that time, information distribution was so limited. Only a few elitist people had access to information, and thus, they could dominate, monopolize, and manipulate information for their own interests. The majority of people lagged very far behind and could only take any information for granted. They had almost no means to verify it and make comparison, and thus, they could be easily manipulated by the elitists. By contrast, in the end of the same century, the flow of information exchange was so overwhelming that it is practically impossible to resist it. As a result, many countries have no choice but to adopt transparency. Third, information and communication technology has enhanced public service. Computerization, one of modern information technology’s products, has transformed the once cumbersome public service into much simpler and more customer-friendly one, saving much more time and energy. In short, the change triggered by the development of information and communication technology in the twentieth century has distinguished the twentieth century from the previous ones. We can see that such a change makes the world seem borderless and tends to merge all its peoples into one big global community, while in the previous centuries, the world seemed divided into parts or groups based on ethnicity, regionalism, stage of development, and so on.
  7. Question : Some people enjoy change, and they look forward to new experiences. Others like their lives to stay the same, and they do not change their usual habits. Compare these two approaches to life. Which approach do you prefer? Explain why. Idea : There are many ways people live their lives. Many people enjoy change and look forward to new experiences, while the others want to stay the same all of their whole lives and don’t change their usual habits. Both have their own reasons. From my experience, I learn that those who enjoy change usually base their attitude on the fact that change is simply unavoidable and irresistible. They quote a popular saying, “Everything changes but change itself.” Consequently, they better accept and live with change than refuse or resist it. What a friend of mine ever told me can serve as a good illustration. She told me, “Until I graduated from high school, I lived almost the whole of my life in the town where I was born. Since it is only a small town, life there goes on in a very slow pace. The rhythm of life there seemed practically unchanged for a long period of time so that I was used to its regularity and the absence of any change. Then, after graduating from high school, I had to move to a big city to continue my study in university. I began to come into contact with many new things I had never come across before. At first I felt awkward and reluctant to change the habits I had been used to, but in order to respond to the new challenge and to achieve my goals, I had no other choice than to change and carry on. Gradually, I managed to adjust myself to my new surroundings and, in the process, discovered and learned many interesting things, began to enjoy them, and got new exciting experience. Finally, I come to the conclusion that change can be enjoyable and meaningful if we learn and know how to deal with it.” On the other hand, from my experience I find that those who like their lives to stay the same and don’t want to change their usual habits are usually the elders. The reason is because they have lived the substantial part of their lives in the past in which the development of technology was still meager. Such development could hardly produce any major or significant change in people’s lives, made life go on in a very slow pace, and eventually affected people’s attitude and behavior. In the long run, people were used to the slow pace and the absence of any major or significant change, so that they became reluctant to change their usual habits and preferred to stay the same almost all the time. I live in an era in which the development of technology goes on in an ever-increasing rate and subsequently affects and changes people’s way of life very fast. Consequently, I can’t refuse or resist change, but have to adapt myself to it. From my experience, I come to the same conclusion with that of my friend mentioned above. :)
  8.  If you could make one important change in a school that you attended, what change would you make? Use reasons and specific examples to support your answer.  If I could make one important change in a school that I attended, I would like to change its learning system, because I found that the learning system in my school was so dull and boring that it could reduce students’ enthusiasm for study. The learning system in my school was much influenced by the tradition practiced by the community surrounding it. Unfortunately, many people believe that the tradition was not conducive to modern learning system. It was still based on the ancient assumption that elder people were usually better at most aspects of life than the younger ones, simply because the former had lived longer, learned more, and experienced more things than the latter. As the consequence, learning system in my school gave considerably much emphasis on the role of teachers, who were considered to represent the supposedly better, elder people, while slightly underestimating the role of students, who were often considered to be immature and inexperienced. Such learning system had been practiced for generations that in the long run teachers appeared as unchallenged characters, while students were gradually becoming passive and shaped into characters acceptable to the surrounding traditional community. In my school days, teachers were so dominant in the learning system that all they taught were practically unchallenged and unquestioned. Meanwhile, students were so shaped that people took for granted that good students were those who didn’t ask very much and followed faithfully what the teacher taught them. Young students who dared to challenge what their teachers taught were usually considered to be forward. In such situation, it was unsurprising that there was only a little room for discussion or debate. All curricula and instruction materials were set up by those in power who left almost no room for others to question any part of the curricula or the materials. Nowadays, thanks to the rapid developments in technology, people have to adjust many old things to respond to the demands of modernity. The abovementioned learning system is now considered to be out-of-date and not adaptable to the demands of modernity. However, I still see that the out-of-date learning system in my school has not completely disappeared yet, just like what a proverb says: “Old habits die hard”. Therefore, of all aspects of the school I attended, I think the learning system is the most prioritized one to be revised and adapted to respond to modernity. With significant improvement in its learning system, I can expect my school to be a modern one which all of its alumni can be proud of. :) ;)
  9. Question : If you could change one important thing about your hometown, what would you change? Use reasons and specific examples to support your answer. Answer : If I could change one important thing about my hometown, I would like to change its waste management. I have strong reasons why I should choose waste management as top priority. Firstly, the residents of my hometown produce tons of waste materials everyday. If not treated properly, such materials will pose serious problems, such as environmental and sanitary problems. In order to stay clean and healthy and to sustain good living for all its residents, every town has to apply good waste management. Unfortunately, my hometown still faces many difficulties in applying it. As a result, heaps of waste materials are scattered in many spots in the town. Besides making unpleasant sight and emitting unpleasant odor to the visitors, those heaps of garbage also contribute to the already aggravated pollution and pose health danger. Ideal breeding grounds for many filthy organisms and germs, those heaps serve as good sources of disease transmission, such as diarrhea and other infectious digestive diseases. It is not surprising that the occurrence of infectious digestive diseases in my hometown is rather high, partly due to its poor waste management system. However, I see that the public administrators of my hometown still pay very little attention to waste management system. They are more concerned about social problems the impacts of which are immediate, such as poverty or street children. Secondly, the waste management applied by the public administrators of my hometown is not environmentally friendly. They still employ old-fashioned methods of waste management, such as rubbish landfill dump and in-situ combustion, which pose environmental danger. Rubbish landfill dump takes much space and thus will result in unwise land use, whereas so many people still need land to live on or to cultivate. In-situ combustion will contribute to the already aggravated air pollution and increase the occurrence of pollution-related diseases. Thirdly, the waste management applied by the public administrators of my hometown has not yet involved fully and empowered the town’s communities. As people’s environmental awareness increases, there are more and more people and groups voicing their concern for better environment. They insist that waste management should not be solely government’s affairs but should be everyone’s because the quality of waste management affects everybody’s life and consequently should be in everybody’s mind. Moreover, the modern, more effective, and more efficient method of waste management which builds on “reduce, reuse, and recycle” mechanism calls for people’s participation. Therefore, people empowerment in waste management should be continuously encouraged. In addition, the good habit of cleanliness should be deeply implanted into people’s minds. I see that a great number of my hometown’s people are in the bad habit of disposing of litter carelessly. They persist in such a bad habit because the public administrators of my hometown take only a little preventive measures against it. With many improvements in its waste management, my hometown will be healthier and more livable. That is why the significant change in its waste management should be listed as one of the most prioritized.
