  1. Hi all, I got an interview request from a top b-school (top 5 ish) asking me to interview on Jan 29th. It is one of my top choices. I emailed the professor immediately but since then, have not heard a reply. The professor told me that he was traveling for a conference and would be busy last week but asked me to set up a few dates to interview. I sent a follow-up email on the 1st but I still have not received a reply. I do not want to bother him and I respect his schedule, but I am wondering when it would be appropriate to email him again (or if there is something else I can do). I do not want to miss out on this school. Thanks!
  2. Hi everyone, I recently discovered this forum and I was so puzzled how I went through most of my preparation without it... I have started to practise essays a month before my exam, please find below on I wrote recently. I am looking for another persons opinion on grading my essay: Topic: Governments should place few, if any, restrictions on scientific research and development. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the recommendation and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, describe specific circumstances in which adopting the recommendation would or would not be advantageous and explain how these examples shape your position. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The statement that governments should limit the scientific research and development by imposing restrictions is a widely discussed and controversial topic with the advent of technology in the 20 century. On one hand limiting research in specific areas can prove to decrease the amount of scientific innovations. Considering the intricate and complex harmony in which science is developed this can affect seemingly adjacent areas. However, limitations can also be beneficial as technological breakthroughs can seldom provide more problems to humanity. Some of the most appreciated technologies might have not been discovered if certain limits were placed on scientific research and innovation. Nevertheless, it is more beneficial to science and humanity that certain limits are imposed. Innovation in science can take many forms - it can come from a discovery of a new mathematical formulation all the way to the development of a water channel to ease transport. The reason for this is that it is a very intricate network of discrete events each contributing to the discovery of another. These unforgeable events can sometimes lead to major scientific innovations in different fields of research and industries. The research in space exploration has always been controversial due to the high risk for the loss of human life or the exorbitant costs associated with construction and atmospheric launch. However, if limitations were imposed on the mid 20 century space exploration then all the innovations and discoveries would not have taken place. The result would be that the new technology would have never entered the commercial aircraft market and the most common method of transport associated with today's age, the aircraft, would not have been able to transform the world towards the greater good. On the other hand, considering that if science and innovation are left unchecked it might cause a greater problem. The speed with which technology is progressing means that in the very near future with the improvements in 3D printing technology it will be possible to synthesise proteins. It is feared by governments that if this was to become a widely accessible technology then everyone would be able to create viruses and diseases with the clicks of a few buttons. Furthermore, with the creation of the nuclear technology in the mid 20 century a new type of weapon with execrable disastrous power was made possible. The notorious power of the nuclear bomb is the most famous example of a technology developed to better the life of people that can be used in a completely opposite and destructive way. Therefore, numerous governmental control bodies exist that monitor how nuclear and biological technologies are developed and imposes limits where it considers it appropriate. It can be seen that even though this is making research more difficult it is still increasing exponentially. Proving that if the restrictions are reasonable than dangerous exploitation of technology can be avoided and the scientific progress can avoid being halted. In conclusion, it can be seen that imposing limitations of scientific research and development would not create problems if it is done with reason. It is therefore considered reasonable that a governmental body with world experts in charge can determine the most optimal way that innovations of a certain technology are limited to provide the best scientific progress and avoid dangerous circumstanced to humanity.

  4. For several months I try to contact somebody who is able to change my nickname and who has the time to do that. I understand that we are all grown up here and we should know that the internet is public and not everybody is our friend. However, I absolutely did not expect people from outside the forums to read my forum posts here, and I also did not expect my posts and other things to be interesting for certain people, partly including journalist networks of real size who friendly poke fun at me, but it's not only fun, because I get approached about my posts here on almost a daily basis, offline, in real life, which I thought was not connected to here at all. The problem is I used the nickname also for other things and people misbelieve the reasons. It would be more than useful if I could get my nickname changed, so that it longer leads the Google ranking with the name which I never expected to become famous nor become widely known connected with me. Different to Bing Google recognizes interest of readers, and sorts according to this. I just posted around to play, not always sober, but people think these posts are my life and as time goes by it really becomes very annoying. I cannot turn on a social network without being reminded of my partly silly forum posts here. Can please finally somebody change my nickname into any other ? This would be totally enough. I do have a secret word and I would like to reveal the forum nickname to be changed + the secret word via private message or via email to/from request2urch@icloud.com . Please contact me via PM or Email to know the secret word and nickname to be changed My second and last post would be the Thank you here.

  6. I am visiting with my favourite faculty this week. How do I make my request for recommendations less awkward. Also, am I mad to ask my favorite professor for a LOR because I got a B in his class? He understands that I'm more capable than the grade suggests. To be honest I'm going to ask him regardless of what the advice is... just wondering what you thought out there.
  7. Hi friends. I have just received my score for the test I took at 23rd of July. My score distribution is as follows: R:28 L:30 S:23 W:24 I am planning to request a rescore for my speaking and writing parts. I definately believe that I did better on writing part. My score on integrated part is low. They gave (2.5-3.5) and they gave (4.0-5.0) to independent writing. I am sure that I wrote about all the contradictions between the reading and the lecture and did this in a well organized way but I dont know why did they give such a low score. I also need 26 on speaking. I didn't do good on first speaking question but I believe that I did pretty good on other ones. But it seems like I got (2.5-3.0) on all speaking categories. What is your opinion about my chances to get a higher score? Thanks in advance.
