  1. Wow I was unaware of schools requiring 2 TA jobs in year 1, semester 1. All my offers were 1 and capped at 20 hours I think. However, I don't know of any place that would have this info, so I would apply to good fits and weigh your offers as they come in. As I recall USC has some really excellent placements though!
  2. I was just trying to think of a school in that range. I think they place well and have some nice macro faculty so it seemed like a nice lower bound school for you.
  3. This seems appropriate. I'd add NYU to your list and 1 school from top 20-30. I think your approach is OK, conditional on having an RA fallback. The school I'd first think of in the 20-30 range is BC. Also you're at a top school and in PhD courses, ask the professors what they think.
  4. Most schools offer fellowships to the top incoming students, but I don't know of any that have no requirements for all students. My suggestion is to not condition on TA responsibilities and apply to programs that best fit your interests. The responsibilties in year 1 are typically quite managable, and many before you have passed comps while doing them. For instance a school in that range that is quite good in macro is emory
  5. The math grades and low GRE score are going to make most of the schools you've listed hard to get into, as well as survive first year coursework. I don't know the masters requirements, but I know that in the US duke masters students have fared well in both getting a job or PhD admission. But I don't know how generous the funding is.
  6. For urban you have a nice list, but you really should add the following: Syracuse, UC Irvine, Georgia State, UC Riverside. For public economics UMD would be a nice add as well. I'd probably take off BC as I recall they have a theory oriented "urban" guy.
