  1. Once you take a few more higher level quant related courses, your stats will be on par with other applicants. What they will ask is why? What do you plan on doing with a MA in economics and JD degree? If you plan on doing anything business related, an MBA/JD joint degree would be the more versatile and acknowledged degree here. - Admissions Advice Online
  2. Hello, It may not have been just your GRE scores. What was your GPA? How was your personal statement and LORs? For the programs you applied to, your Verbal score is quite competitive. If you want, you can send over your SOP as I strongly believe that there was an issue there. - Admissions Advice Online
  3. Hello, Most programs will want to see a higher level of quantitative ability. This does not have to come in the form of Calc I, II or III per se, but you should have a demonstrated ability for high level analysis since that is a major part of marketing at the PhD level. -Admissions Advice Online
  4. Prof A is the better choice simply because he can speak to your ability towards leading a class. As a graduate student, you will be expected to teach so this prof will be able to shed some light on this aspect. - Admissions Advice Online
  5. You will have a good shot at LSE, how you structure your essays matters a lot there. -Admissions Advice Online
  6. Take courses to raise your GPA is it is on the lower side and/or improve your GRE scores if that exam is required for admissions. -Admissions Advice Online
  7. You should report it, especially since it is perfectly normal to career switch. Just remember that if you do decide to leave it off, universities can and WILL revoke your admissions and any degrees earned based on admissions granted by the submission or omission of academic credentials if later found out to not be honest. - Admissions Advice Online
  8. No, they will not know. The only person that will be notified of an incomplete application is the applicant(you). - Admissions Advice Online
  9. Hello, A GPA of 3.08 will be considered very low for many doctorate programs in the USA for admissions purposes. What do you want to study? I would advise you to maybe take a few courses to try to raise your GPA before applying. -Admissions Advice Online
  10. Hello, The MBA will be a more versatile degree and because of this, probably the best option. Since you are not sure exactly what you want to do, the MBA degree will allow you the option of continuing in economic forecasting or even switching sectors completely to pharma or marketing. So by just going off of what you wrote here, the MBA is the winner when it comes to which degree will be most beneficial to you. Student Visa

The student visa process will only start once you are accepted to a program. You need to apply to a school first and that school will normally help you with obtaining a student visa. For a free consultation to find out which schools are a best fit for the degree that you want to obtain, add us on Skype @ admissions_essay_advice Hope This Helps, Admissions Advice Online
  12. There is no major problem with having finished your bachelors degree in 2008. Actually having 4 years of work experience will be an asset to you as you will be able to bring real world experience and apply those to theories being studied in the classroom. Are you planning on working while completing a graduate degree or are you asking about finding work after you finish? Working during the degree will be the harder option and would probably only be allowed in your second year anyway. Finding a job in the United States with a top MBA or MS degree should not be hard, especially if you are quantitatively inclined. As for your spouse or future spouse, you will be allowed to bring her on your visa provided that you can prove you have sufficient funds for yourself, your studies, and for her. GRE scores Validity

In general, most schools will accept a score up to 5 years. However, schools really want to see scores that are 2 years or newer as they know these exams often times change greatly from administration to administration. Hope this helps, admissions advice online
  15. Hello, Your GRE might save you. How long ago did you take the exam? Also did you complete your undergraduate degree in Canada or another country. a 3.3 gpa is really on the borderline Your SOP/Required Essays will really have to shine to show the admissions committee that you are worth a shot and that their program will really bring out the best in you. 16. Hello, You have a very very good chance of admissions to a top PhD program. Your high Graduate GPA proves that you have the ability to handle graduate work. What you will need to do is to write an amazing SOP, preferably, a unique SOP for each program that you want to attend. The SOP needs to clearly link your future plans with the general mission and resources of each program. We can help you further with a free consultation but need some more information from you. Add us on skype @ username admissions_essay_advice. Hope this helps.
  17. Hello, No need to be alarmed. CMU is indeed has one of the top Comp Sci Programs in the world. The required GRE min is offset by the fact that many in the program did not do well on the verbal section of the GRE. If you were to take a look at the breakdown, the majority did very well on the quant section and poorly on the reading because they are not native English speakers. In any event, make no mistake about it, admissions to this program will be tough -- very tough. Get a free profile evaluation from former admissions officers Skype us @ admissions_essay_advice.
  18. Hello, You stand a very good chance at some of these universities and others. Did you complete your bachelor's degree in engineering as well? That will really help. If you did, and your overall GPA is 8.9/10, you stand a really good chance. Your stats are in line, now what you need to do is tell the story of why you should be admitted. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Free Admissions Advice & Admissions Essay Consultation Skype: admissions_essay_advice 24/7
  19. @ Greenman I have no Idea what you are talking about. Try to post a coherent post. To you too I say Goodbye. Clearly you and Evergreen are the same person "Greenman" "Evergreen" lol What a joke! I presented the facts, when I asked you for yours you couldn't. Please stop. You stalk my posts you send me a million private messages. This has gone too far. Stop. Enough is enough. I am here to help others with real information not play games with you. Please stop your crazed obsession. I have added you both to my ignore list. Good Riddance!
  20. @ Danoo, If you take a look at the requirements that I have listen above, it appears that you do not have the two semesters of intermediate econ that the top schools will require. Everything else looks good. I would recommend that you send the admissions offices at these two schools a quick email detailing all relevant courses to see if they somehow will fulfill the min requirements. Best of Luck!
  21. I actually took he Liberty of going to the MA in econ at toronto- arguably the strongest program in the country. Here is what they require word for word : Applicants must have completed, or must be in the final year of an appropriate four-year bachelor's degree program or its equivalent with at least a mid-B (75%) standing in the final year of that program. Applicants educated in a country other than Canada should check the equivalent qualifications table before starting the online application.Applicants must have a strong preparation in economics, including the following university-level courses. Two semesters of introductory economics (micro and macro) Two semesters of intermediate economics (micro and macro) Two semesters of calculus Two semesters of intermediate statistics. Since when does AT LEAST A MID B(75%) standing in the FINALLL Year equal a 3.75 or 800Q score. CHILD, please take two seats. Goodbye. I will no longer reply to your nonsense as you are wasting my time and the time of others who come here to receive genuine and honest information. Shame on you for willfully providing false information to individuals seeking help.
  22. Please show me ANY facts that show that ANY MA program in Canada requires a 3.7 GPA and an 800Q/790Q score or equivalent. Anyone can spurt off at the mouth. You are making that up. IT DOES NOT EXIST. STOP misleading YOURSELF and the FORUM. All any MA degree in Econ in CA requires is a few set of courses and a decent GPA. Many don't even require the GRE if you graduated from a Canadian institution. It is a MA degree = Masters of Arts. Please have a seat.
  23. The previous poster is correct. You do not give enough information to make a decent evaluation. The one highlight that I see in your stats is the fact that you have worked 4 years. That will work in your favor as you have more relevant experiences to draw from. This will help you especially when it comes to writing the essays which you will see is a MAJOR part of getting accepted to a great MBA program. 25. I Have no idea what Evergreen is talking about, the top MA in econ program in Canada is arguably at UBS or Toronto, both of which have a "softer" entry requirement than the two MBA programs at the same schools. The MA is econ is a less stringent degree for admissions on any front. The PhD is a different story. I have had 10+ years in admissions. I know what I am talking about.
