I'm sure most people feel the same, but I'm reeeeeaally hoping to here from at least one more university this week... I think University of Washington usually sends out some decisions at the beginning of February.

Question: does anyone know of any schools that announce decisions via postal service? I don't think I've seen anyone from previous years saying so, and I can't imagine why they would, but I thought I'd ask

Boston College does, even for foreign applicants. Neither would I know why they do so, but I imagine they feel postal service is more formal type of communication.

Is postal service the only way for BC to announce decisions?

Based on the GC results, it seems they send the first round of acceptance letters and all rejection letters by post, and notify waitlisted candidates by email. People admitted off waitlist say they got an email, too. Guess no one cares for fancy snail mail letters when it's close to Apr 15 deadline.

Definitely the most prolonged and consistent period of stress in my life, just cause it's so long and always on my mind. Here's the perspective I'm trying to keep in mind: this is a damn good kind of stress. If you're in a position that you're worrying about which PhD programs you're getting offers to, it means you've done a lot of things right up to this point, and it also means that if you don't get an offer you want to take you'll have plenty of good other options.

Without going into a whole life story, 3 or 4 years ago no one would've thought I'd be in this place, and yet here I am, with all the rest of you... so, trying to keep that in mind even though it is really tough waiting.

    Good luck today everyone!!

    Same story!

I am not stressed out anymore since one of my top choices already accepted me. I wish all schools communicated decisions that early.

That's really encouraging thanks! I don't know how be hopefuly because 2 profs told me I should go for masters instead of phd because of my low GRE but I took the risk and applied to 8 competitive phd programs LOL. (will apply for masters in march if i dont get in anywhere). This time is so anxiety inducing, even with university I still find myself checking urch and gradcafe daily so many times.
