rana01
Hi guys, I just took the test today (5/12/2007). My score: 720 (Q 49, V 40) My test scores: PR paper 1: 730 PR paper 2: 720 PR paper 3: 720 PR paper 4: 640 (something wierd about this one) Powerprep: 750, 730 I found the PR tests to be the most representative of the actual test, in terms of the actual difficulty of the questions and the score. Powerprep was much easier. I studied the GMAT official guide, the Princeton review guide and the Princeton review verbal supplement. I have been studying for about 2 months (more seriously, for about a month). One other point. I got the very first quant question wrong. I realized it as soon as I pressed the button. However, if you can steadily work through the rest of the questions, you can still end up with a high score.
sh_106
Real GMAT 680 2 days before, Powerprep 760. What the hell!!?? Some of the math questions seemed unfamiliar for some reason on the real test. I was too slow on the 1st half of quant and that's what brought my score down. I think i'll try again but am unsure of how to prepare for the next exam. Any suggestions? surya167
Powerprep is an older version of GPREP.. and its totaly non representative of the current GMAT difficulty level...

rana01
One way to ensure that you will never run out of time is to follow the following strategy: Finish the 1st 12 Q questions in the first 25 min., 2nd 12 Q questions in the next 25 min. and the final 13 Q questions in the final 25 min. Finish the 1st 13 V questions in the first 25 min, the 2nd 14 V questions in the next 25 min. and the final 14 V questions in the final 25 min. Hope this helps. :)
sh_106
What were your scores in GPrep.. If you havent used GPREP, then it is a horrendeous mistake and you should definitely try this test again... I did use the updated Gprep from the mba.com website. The questions did seem a bit harder on the real GMAT though. I guess that means i was doing well but running out of time before finishing the last 5 questions really damaged my score. I'll try the test again but just found out you must wait 31 days before retesting. Thanks for the help!

PennMI
Kaplan Diag - 560 (38Q, 30V) Kaplan CAT1 - 520 (34Q, 24V) Kaplan CAT2 - 610 (39, 34V) Kaplan CAT3 - 570 (37, 26V) Kaplan CAT4 - 580 (36, 31V) Kaplan CAT 6 - 580 (37, 30V) (Skipped CAT5 since that's the ult. practice test which I scheduled for mid-August) Needless to say, minimal improvement over the course of 6 CATs. Need to crack the book harder or have a different strategy. Although, it is motivating to see the trend of some of the folks that have scored in the same practice Kaplan CAT ranges and have scored 700+! :)

I wonder how they compare to the Kaplan CDs that the public purchase.

darrima
I took GMAT today and scored 720! PowerPrep 1 - 640 after doing some OG PowerPrep 1 - retook the test and got 710, but a number of questions were repeats PowerPrep 2 - 660 (was very disappointed, because I finished most of OG and felt that I was doing pretty well) 800 score - 560 (ouch!) PowerPrep 2 - 710 (did this test after a month or so after the first attempt and did not run into any questions that I could remember. I think this was pretty representative of real score) 800 score test 2 - something around 600+ GMAt Papertest - 720 Princeton Review - taken 3-4 days before the real test, scored 680 GMATPrep - found old versions of the test on the internet, scored 710 on the first test and 750 on the second, but quantative seemed too easy and verbal had a lot of repeats. Conculsion: if you do not get 700 in PR or 800 score, don't get discouraged! It's still possible to get 700+ in the real thing!

grumppee17
:)Hey all, I've been a fan of this site and am hoping for a better score next week when I retake the GMAT for the third time. I thought some of this info might be realistic for some people on here struggling like I am. I just finished taking the Kaplan class and am now gearing up for the final battle! My scores as of now are as follows. 1st real GMAT: 420 V23:Q10! March 2007 2nd real GMAT: 460 V24:Q21 June 2007 Diagnostic Kaplan GMAT: 530 Q:31 V:34 (Weird scoring) Kaplan 1: 580 Q:34 V:34 Kaplan 2: 530 Q:35 V:25 Kaplan 3: 550 Q:34 V:29 Kaplan 4: 530 Q:32 V:29 Kaplan 6: 550 Q:35 V:28 GMAT Prep: 550 Kaplan 7: 580 Q:37 V:29 I'm really focusing on my verbal...trying to focus on the first 10 verbal questions. I'm pretty slow with the critical reasoning....sentence corrections are my strengths....and reading comp needs some improvement. I take my 3rd GMATs again this coming saturday. I am hoping to score in the upper 500 range. Standardized test-taking is not my cup of tea but I'm working at it. I was hit up by a recruiter from Stanford University and their GMAT scores range from 500-800. No joke! Hope this helps, I'll repost when Itake my exam. Much luck to all!
