  1. Congratulations!!! Glad to hear that waitlists have started to move.
  2. Still waiting to hear from all of my waitlists. What a lengthy admissions cycle
  3. The waitlists I'm waiting for are pretty small, and I don't want to risk revealing my identity :P But I'm waiting for 3 waitlists and am hoping one of them will work out.
  4. I'm over here crossing my fingers as well
  5. Ask during the visit day - I just got back from one, also with weak funding, and the graduate students were very frank about the funding and offered advice on how to make it work based on their own experience. They are an especially good resource because choices such as where to live can make a huge difference, and are school-specific. I don't see any reason why they would hold back. Loans are an option - check out the financial aid office for your school. Though if you have student loans from undergrad... that would be tough.
  6. Re: your secondary question, also consider where the professor's past RAs have gone.
  7. That seems weird. I'd send a polite email asking about the application status. ...why? It was from the econ admissions email account.
  8. I haven't heard from Booth yet either. If you still haven't heard from Wharton (for applied economics) at all, then it is likely an implicit rejection - they've done interviews already.
  9. Have you looked through the previous results and profiles threads? (http://www.www.urch.com/forums/phd-economics/144323-old-roll-calls-profiles-results.html) People post their grades in math/econ classes and the programs they ended up being accepted and rejected from - I am sure you will find several profiles that are similar to yours.
  10. Ask around to see if you can take the PhD intro sequence - getting a high grade in those courses can make up for a lower undergrad GPA.
  11. Grats everyone who got Berkeley!! Excited for visit days... and then potential waitlist movement?
  12. Ehh, Columbia sent out an email on Monday asking to RSVP by Friday.
  13. lol @ "implicit waitlist" I didn't know inviting waitlisted applicants to visit days was a thing. I got one and was a bit hesitant, but I guess if it is standard...
  14. Did you check your spam folder? I was accepted and mine says "under graduate school review" as well. From what I understand, at many schools the econ department reviews applications first and decides who to accept, and then the graduate school administration confirm everything is okay - I don't see why they would move your application from the econ department to the graduate school if you were rejected outright.
  15. "Please RSVP by March 16" - so they'll have to release results by then
  16. Also probably shouldn't make travel plans before getting accepted lol
  17. Yeah, last week. I fumbled some questions so I'm not too surprised about the outcome.
  18. Can you take grad-level classes as a full-time RA? That seems like the best of both worlds.
  19. I got a waitlist email too - I'm American and my last name is near the middle of the alphabet. lol
