  1. Wow that is crazy. I actually looked up the price for Netmath and it is not bad at all (even my state school is charging more money). Harvard extension is obviously more expensive. I guess I should take a look at Netmath class offerings for the upcoming Fall or even this summer. Thanks again!
  2. Do you think those are credible enough places to take maths courses?
  3. I cannot believe that you did not get any offer. Did you apply to only T20 or something? For your question though, you may think of improving your LORs and that can happen in UBC. But honestly, I do not see much of an area from your profile that lacks tremendously. Sorry for not being super helpful.
  4. I'd say Berkeley ARE based on its incredible placement record.
  5. Lol at the person who downvoted my comments. I know the programme very well and instead of disliking, it would be better to disprove what I am saying if you can lol. It would actually help OP to decide.
  6. Yes, precisely what I am saying. You should only go to BGSE, if you already know necessary maths to succeed in a PhD or be very close to that point (meaning Calc1-2-3, LA and RA should be taken before the programme). When you have those necessary skills and go there, you can learn economics and its intuition without struggling too much with the maths side.
  7. If your maths is not truly exceptional, do not go to BGSE. I know the programme from a friend and it is no good if you're already amazing at maths
  8. Is it gonna be a W in your transcript?
  9. I think the best way to assess ranking is to look at the faculty and their students' placements. That should give you an idea about the ranking.
  10. Even though this is a quite harsh comment, I have to say I agree with every words he/she said...
  11. I was trying to give a suggestion. No need to childishly downvote mine lol.
  12. Honestly, if you're making a similar money and you're going to do your PhD in 2022, why don't you take some maths classes in the meantime. Real Analysis would do wonders in your case. Though I agree with the above comments saying that research gig would be also amazing to strengthen your profile!
  13. Hope not but too early to tell...
  14. I don't think they would be so strictly checking that. If your profile wasn't strong enough in the first place, you would not get accepted anyway. Promising to take a proof based course may actually increase your chances of acceptance but it will be extremely discounted due to you not having grades on them. So, I think that should not be a deal-breaker. But it is just my opinion - I am no expert.
  15. How did you eliminate the trolls from your retrieved data? Congrats, checking out!
  16. Why is everyone trying so hard to get into top 5? Anyway, I think two masters would be overkill. Assuming that you could get accepted to LSE EME, and assuming that you could get top marks, there is nothing else you can do to improve your profile but RAing. Hence, I would suggest you to do LSE EME and get top marks, afterwards if you still think your profile is lacking, apply for RAships or Predocs. You should be able to get into top 5 then but still no one can give you guarantee when it comes to top 5.
  17. If those classes are really using MWG and Greene, I can only imagine that those classes are PhD level.
  18. I agree with Bayes that your application is not a T10 material yet. Your connection though sounds promising. If the connection is looking for a predoc that could help him, I think that is the best thing you can do at this point OR to strengthen your profile, you may think of taking RA sequences OR more ambitiously Grad Micro 1 though I don't recommend that.
  19. I don't think anyone knows what is going to happen in this cycle so apply as broadly as possible.
  20. I think you should definitely ask them otherwise enter the lowest score. It is better than entering a great score and then getting a bad score. But I still think you should let them know. Keep in mind that as far as I know analytical writing is the least important part of the application anyway.
  21. Thank you, I was wondering about this as well!
  22. There are some people who has done it but I do not know why. Also I do not get your reasoning either. http://www.princeton.edu/~kiyotaki/papers/vita912.pdf IGIER - Universita' Bocconi https://smith.queensu.ca/faculty_and_research/faculty_list/CVs/hou-yu.pdf https://smith.queensu.ca/faculty_and_research/faculty_list/CVs/wang-wei.pdf Maybe ask them if any of their career interests you.
  23. I am pretty sure you can get accepted from especially BGSE but I think scholarship mainly depends on your GRE score so I cannot make any definitive comment on scholarship.
  24. If you really are considering solely salary, then academia isn't really for you.
